Santadi

In the heart of the Sardinian island, amidst unspoiled landscapes and ancient traditions, the Santadi winery stands as a bastion of oenological excellence. Born as a cooperative, this establishment has successfully united the efforts of local winegrowers, transforming Carignano del Sulcis into a true legend. Nestled in the territory of Sulcis, a corner of Sardinia blessed by the sun and caressed by the wind, Santadi has harnessed the unique characteristics of its terroir, creating wines that reflect the richness and complexity of these lands.
The winery's production philosophy is nourished by the balance between tradition and innovation, with a focus on sustainability and respect for the environment. The vineyards, cultivated with wisdom and love, are the undisputed realm of Carignano and Vermentino, two varieties that best express the Sardinian soul. Carignano, in particular, finds its chosen land in Sulcis, producing wines of extraordinary richness and structure.
Among the labels that uphold the name of Santadi, Terre Brune stands out for its complexity and enveloping softness. A wine that tells stories of sun-drenched lands, with aromas ranging from fruity notes to spicy ones, in an embrace that is both vigorous and delicate.
Let yourself be captivated by the wines of Santadi available on Vino45: an invitation to discover the authentic flavors and profound emotions of Sardinia, encapsulated in every sip.

THE WINE
The 'Noras' from Cantina Santadi is a Cannonau di Sardegna DOC of rare intensity, with enchanting notes of Mediterranean scrub, sweet spices, and tobacco. Warm, soft, with sweet tannins of rare intensity. Aged in second-passage barriques for about 6 months, followed by further refinement in the bottle.
THE COMPANY
In the heart of Sulcis, in the province of Carbonia-Iglesias, in the south-western area of Sardinia, lies Cantina Santadi.
Located in the small medieval municipality of Santadi, in lower Sulcis, surrounded by vineyards, olive trees, oaks, pines, and junipers, this enchanting area of Sardinia includes coastal stretches with white sandy beaches, hilly areas, flat land, and mountainous regions, characterized by a Mediterranean climate with granitic and calcareous soils rich in sediments.
A cooperative founded by small grape producers in 1960, initially aimed at producing and trading bulk wine, with the arrival of the new president Antonello Pilloni, Cantina Santadi takes flight and focuses entirely on the innovation and quality of its wines.
It starts with the renovation of the winery and the winemaking departments, leading to the construction and setup of a modern laboratory, a purifier, and an innovative photovoltaic system.
In the 1980s, Giacomo Tachis is called to lead the winery and production, who, with passion and determination, guides the winery to national and international success.
Thanks to his intervention, the production focuses on wines of the highest quality and territorial imprint, with an innovative spirit and respect for tradition, favoring indigenous grape varieties, particularly carignano, a variety particularly widespread in the Sulcis area.
It is from carignano that, with the 1984 vintage, Santadi Terre Brune is born, the first aged red wine of Sardinia, which rests in new fine-grained oak barriques for a period of 16-18 months and ages for 12 months in the bottle.
But at Cantina Santadi, in Sardinia, they do not stop only at Carignano del Sulcis, but also cultivate other indigenous and international grape varieties, such as cannonau di Sardegna, nasco, nuragus, vermentino, monica, and cabernet, merlot, chardonnay, and syrah, always with the goal of offering wines of the highest quality with different organoleptic characteristics and from different terroirs.
Thus, at Cantina Santadi, generous wines are born, balancing peasant tradition and innovation, territorial expression and strong personality, such as Rocca Rubia, Latinia, Cannonau di Sardegna Noras, and Vino Liquoroso Festa Noria Santadi, made from indigenous red grapes.
