The Monferrato Rosso DOC “Duedidue” 2017 by Marco Bonfante embodies in its name the harmony between 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Albarossa, two grape varieties that enhance both power and finesse. The warm and generous 2017 vintage gives the wine concentration and aromatic richness. After 18 months in Allier French barriques, it shows intense aromas of red fruits, spices, and bell pepper, enriched by an elegant touch of vanilla. On the palate it is structured, enveloping, and tannic, with perfect balance between acidity, body, and alcohol, ensuring long aging potential, evolving with notes of cocoa and coffee. Perfect with red meats, game, and aged cheeses.

THE COMPANY

The Bonfante family has been producing wines in Nizza Monferrato (AT), Piedmont, for eight generations, in an area that represents the excellence zone for Barbera d’Asti production and which obtained the “Nizza DOCG” designation in 2014. It is a family-run business. The owner, Marco Bonfante, a graduate of the Enological School of Alba, is a winemaker and oversees production and business management comprehensively. He is supported by consulting enologist Gianluca Scaglione, agronomist Daniele Eberle, and his sister Micaela Bonfante, who handles administrative management and logistical organization. The company presents an image of quality and seriousness, thanks to hard work, both in Italy and especially abroad. It took only a few harvests for it to become a strongly representative reality of this territory. In addition to the vineyards in Nizza Monferrato, the best grapes from other areas of the region contribute to a rich and versatile range representative of the most prestigious denominations in southern Piedmont. The produced grapes come from managed vineyards and selected vineyards, thanks to an intense and flourishing “nègoce” activity. All agricultural operations are monitored by the company agronomist until harvest. In the vineyard, thinning (also known as green harvest) is carried out to reduce the plant's production and improve grape quality.
