The Touriga Nacional from Quinta do Pessegueiro is a 100% Touriga Nacional produced in the Douro Valley, Portugal. Vines are about 25 years old, with 60% cultivated organically. The grapes are transported in 22 kg wooden crates to the winery, where they stay cold for 12 hours to complete fermentation. Then the wine is fermented in 225-liter barrels. It is subsequently aged for 12 months. It announces itself with notes of dark chocolate and licorice, with intense and broad hints of red fruits, floral notes, and spicy notes. In the glass, it is fresh and balanced, with hints of red berries and plum, minerality, light floral and spicy notes of licorice and chocolate; persistent, elegant, and with excellent acidity. Annual production 4,600 bottles.

THE COMPANY

Located on the steep banks of the Douro, in the heart of this valley that has birthed the best wines of Portugal, Quinta Do Pessegueiro. Imagined by Roger Zannier nearly 30 years ago, Quinta do Pessegueiro consists of three plots - Pessegueiro, Teixeira, and Afurada - that produce exceptional wines and ports (red and white). The winery, located in the heart of the estate, stands out for its extraordinarily modern architecture, which primarily stems from the unique winemaking method it hosts. The five-story building combines traditional production methods with the most sophisticated equipment: to transform grapes into wine, no mechanization is used; only natural gravity is employed. The result is dry wines and port of the highest quality. The Douro is a land that man has embraced with vines for over two thousand years. To bear their exceptional fruits, vines must sink their roots as deeply as possible through the cracks of schist and slate in search of the water table and find one of the most balanced water reserves. The varied nature of the land, climatic nuances, the diversity of the slopes, and the exposure of the plots contribute to the unparalleled complexity of the wines from Quinta Do Pessegueiro. In the winery, the wines are separated by plots. This allows for the recognition of each of their singular characteristics and the tracing of specific traits and nuances of their territory. In this way, the wine develops as naturally as possible.
