Willamette Valley AVA Pinot Noir 'Mt. Jefferson' 2021 (750 ml.) Cristom

The Pinot Noir 'Mt. Jefferson' from Cristom is produced at the Eileen Vineyard estate of Cristom Vineyards, in the heart of the Willamette Valley. The first vines were planted in 1997, and in 2006 the vineyard was expanded. The temperature fluctuations allow the grapes to ripen slowly, accumulating very intense scents and aromas. It is a prestigious made in USA version of the red from Burgundy. Careful winemaking using only indigenous yeasts and a long aging of about 11 months in French oak tonneaux result in an elegant and refined label, revealing intense hints of black cherry, brandied cherries, and blueberries, with spicy notes of licorice, cinnamon, and underbrush. The taste is velvety and well-structured, multifaceted and complex, with an ethereal finish.

Cristom

Hidden among the green and rolling hills of the Willamette Valley, in Oregon, the winery Cristom represents a fascinating bridge between Burgundy tradition and the modern American winemaking spirit. Here, the wild nature merges with artisanal wisdom that respects the past but does not fear innovation. Cristom is especially known for its Pinot Noir, a wine that embodies the essence of this region and reflects the unique influence of the local terroir, thanks to the meticulous care dedicated to every production phase.

The philosophy of the winery Cristom is based on a harmonious balance between innovation and tradition. With an almost reverential respect for Burgundy techniques, the winemakers of Cristom embrace an approach that values the biodiversity of the vineyard and the natural expression of the grapes. The vines, mainly composed of Pinot Noir and Viognier, are tended using sustainable methods that respect the environment and promote soil health, thus ensuring wines that authentically speak of their place of origin.

Among the standout labels, the Mt. Jefferson Cuvée stands out as a refined example of Cristom's savoir-faire. This Pinot Noir presents a complex aromatic bouquet, where notes of ripe red fruits intertwine with earthy and spicy hints. On the palate, the wine reveals an elegant and silky structure, with a persistent finish that invites contemplation and prolonged enjoyment.
