The Langhe DOC Nebbiolo “Perbacco” 2021 by Vietti comes from selected vineyards in the most suitable areas of the Langhe, with grapes also sourced from parcels intended for Barolo. The 2021 vintage was balanced and highly elegant, with a stable climate and slow ripening that enhanced aromatic finesse and structure. Vinification takes place in steel and barriques, followed by about 24 months of aging, resulting in a complex and harmonious profile. The nose reveals cherry, violet, licorice, and delicate spices, while the palate shows silky tannins and long persistence. Ideal with red meats, game, and aged cheeses, it represents a Nebbiolo of great character, combining immediacy and depth typical of Vietti’s style.

THE VINEYARDS
From 35 hectares of vineyards, alongside the classic Dolcetto and Barbera “TreVigne” (a designation indicating that the wine is made from grapes coming from more than one single vineyard), Arneis and Moscato d’Asti Cascinetta, the “crus” Rocche, Brunate, Lazzarito, Ravera, and Riserva Villero in Barolo, Masseria in Barbaresco, Scarrone and Vigna Vecchia in Barbera d’Alba, and, since 1996, La Crena in Barbera d’Asti are produced.
Since 2000, with the retirement of the parents, Mario Cordero and Luca Currado have acquired the entire company property, continuing production activities always with the utmost respect for tradition but with an open and evolving mindset in the pursuit of the highest quality and pleasure of wine.
A famous wine writer recently remarked that Vietti “is always a highly specialized family winery in the production of various types of DOC and DOCG wines.”
AUTHOR LABELS
Since 1974, some Vietti wines have been dressed with original works created specifically by an artist and inspired by the wine of that particular vintage.
The print run corresponds to the number of bottles produced, and the first hundred are signed by the Artist. Each work is used only once, exclusively for the wine of that vintage. Since 1988, on the occasion of the presentation of the Barolo Villero 1982, the Author label has been dedicated to the wine from this great vineyard.
THE COMPANY
For four generations, the Vietti family has been producing wines in Castiglione Falletto, a small medieval town located in the center of one of the happiest areas of the Langhe for vine cultivation, the “Barolo zone.”
Carlo Vietti founded the company at the end of the 1800s, and his son Mario began producing the first Vietti wines in 1919, selling most of the production in Italy.
His main project was to transform the family’s multi-sector agricultural company into a winery. In 1957, Alfredo Currado married the daughter, Luciana Vietti, and from 1960, upon the death of his father-in-law, he continued the family business, increasingly directing production towards high quality and positioning the company among the best in the Langhe, beginning to export its products to important foreign markets such as Germany, Switzerland, and America.
The story of the last 40 years has been marked by the choices of Alfredo Currado, winemaker since 1952, and his wife, who are committed to strengthening the image not only of the family business but of the Barolo territory. Alfredo was the first to select and vinify grapes from single vineyards, a concept that was radical at the time but is now applied by almost all companies producing Barolo and Barbaresco. Thus, in 1961, the first “crus” Vietti, the Barolo Rocche and the Barbaresco Masseria were born.
Nicknamed the “father of Arneis,” in 1967 he was the first to rediscover this nearly extinct variety by vinifying it in purity. Today, Arneis is the most famous white wine from the Albese area.
