Symbol of elegance and tradition, San Leonardo is a Bordeaux blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Merlot) that reflects the identity of its territory. The grapes come from vineyards at an altitude of 150 to 200 m, at the foot of the Dolomites, on gravelly and draining soils. The manual harvesting allows for a rigorous selection of the bunches, followed by spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks. The aging takes place for 24 months in French oak barrels, then at least 12 months in bottle. The result is a wine of extraordinary complexity, with notes of black fruits, spices, tobacco and a fine and elegant tannic structure. It is a red of great longevity, a symbol of refinement and stylistic coherence.

THE ESTATE
Few other Italian wineries have managed to protect and enhance their territory in the style of the great French châteaux, as Tenuta San Leonardo has done in Trentino. A magical place, in the heart of Vallagarina, where the traces of vine cultivation date back a thousand years. A model winery, composed of hundreds of hectares of land, which hosts about thirty hectares cultivated with varieties that have become traditional: cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, carmenère, petit verdot, and merlot, as well as riesling and sauvignon blanc. Owned by the Guerrieri Gonzaga family, Tenuta San Leonardo has over the years produced some of the most iconic wines not only of Trentino but of all Italy. The namesake label, “San Leonardo,” is indeed one of the most famous and awarded Bordeaux blends in the Peninsula: a wine of incredible elegance and longevity, born in 1982 and produced only in the most significant vintages. In addition to its own vineyards, today it adds another ten hectares of rented vines, and among the rows, the utmost respect for the environment and ecosystem is constantly pursued. In the cellar, in an ideal continuity with Giacomo Tachis, since 1999 the winemaking signature has been that of the renowned oenologist Carlo Ferrini, who with care and rigor supervises all production steps. Coordinating everything and everyone is the insatiable and tireless passion of Marquis Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga, who, assisted by his son Anselmo and the historic and irreplaceable right-hand man Luigi Tinelli, meticulously follows every single detail. The result of this combined effort is wines that stand out for their finesse and elegance, vibrant and decisive reds and whites, capable of truly evoking emotions. From “San Leonardo” to the sister labels, every bottle that leaves the estate of Borghetto all’Adige contains the truest and best essence of a territory capable of providing immense oenological satisfaction.
