The Barolo 'Margheria' by Luigi Pira is a strictly classic, intense, and austere wine. It originates from the eponymous cru of Serralunga from an old vineyard about 50 years old, in the territory of Serralunga d’Alba, west of the village of Serralunga, almost on the border with the area of Castiglione Falletto. Robust and full-bodied, with a rich and complex aromatic profile dominated by spicy notes, and a warm and enveloping taste. A wine of significant structure, a perfect synthesis of power and refined elegance. Faithful to ancient customs, it matures for 24 months in large barrels and offers a deep, rich, and persistent sip, with a dense and lively tannic texture and an aromatically deep and complex palate. Barolo for those who love the traditional style of wines from the Langhe.

THE WINE
The Barolo 'Margheria' by Luigi Pira is a rigorously classic, intense, and austere wine. It originates from the eponymous cru of Serralunga from an old vineyard of about 50 years of age, in the territory of Serralunga d’Alba, to the west of the village of Serralunga, almost on the border with the area of Castiglione Falletto. Robust and full-bodied, with a rich and complex aromatic profile dominated by spicy notes, and a warm and enveloping flavor. A wine of significant structure, a perfect synthesis of power and refined elegance. Faithful to ancient customs, it matures for 24 months in large barrels and offers a deep, rich, and persistent sip, with a dense and lively tannic texture and a deeply aromatic and complex mouthfeel. Barolo for those who love the traditional style of wines from the Langhe.
THE COMPANY

Since the 1950s, Luigi Pira has transformed the company towards a winemaking direction, and in the following decades, sold grapes and bulk wine to the large wineries of the Albese region that sought the prized product from the territory of Serralunga d’Alba. A first step that marks an indelible imprint carved in this land that knows how to give the winemaker high-quality red wines, among which the Barolo reigns. It is starting from the 1990s, thanks to the push from his son Gianpaolo, that the identity of Barolo from Pira takes shape; indeed, it is during that period that the wine produced from the historic family vineyards is vinified and bottled separately. Wines that would quickly establish themselves among enthusiasts thanks to their unique rigor and elegance, from Vigna Marenca to Vigna Margheria, from Vignarionda to the classic Serralunga. Today Gianpaolo is joined in his work by his brothers Romolo and Claudio. The wine produced from the grapes of the historic family vineyards is fully bottled; the crü of Nebbiolo from Barolo are vinified separately, giving rise to the corresponding labels: Barolo Vigna Marenca, Barolo Vigna Margheria, Barolo Vignarionda. Not to mention the Barolo Serralunga.
