Roberto Voerzio

In the heart of Piedmont, among the prestigious hills of Barolo, stands the winery of Roberto Voerzio, a name that echoes like a legend among wine enthusiasts. Here, the land tells ancient stories, and Roberto Voerzio has interpreted them with unique mastery, defining a new chapter in modern Barolo production. His philosophy is based on meticulous vineyard care, with very low yields that guarantee a concentration and complexity few others can match.
The mild climate of Piedmont and the mineral-rich soils offer an ideal terroir for the varieties of Nebbiolo and Barbera, grapes that Roberto cultivates with an almost religious dedication. Each cluster is carefully monitored, turning the vineyards into an open-air laboratory where nature and human hands work in perfect harmony. His main wines, the Barolo Cerequio and the Brunate, are true masterpieces that reveal the depth and complexity of these lands. The Barolo Cerequio presents seductive notes of berries, spices, and a hint of damp earth, while the Brunate enchants with its scents of rose, licorice, and an intriguing balsamic note.
Each sip of Roberto Voerzio's wines is an invitation to discover the power and refinement of Barolo, a sensory journey through time and space that only a master of Voerzio's caliber can offer. Let yourself be seduced by the magic of his labels, available on Vino45, and experience an unparalleled wine journey, where tradition meets innovation and excellence is always at home.

THE COMPANY

A legend in the wine world and particularly in Barolo, Roberto Voerzio founded his winery in 1986 in La Morra, a small fraction in the heart of the Langhe. Initially covering only 2 hectares, today the vineyard spans 20, thanks to the acquisition over the years of the most prestigious and historic crus for the production of Barolo, such as La Serra, Brunate, Cerequio, Sarmassa, Rocche dell’Annunziata, Fossati, Case Nere, as well as excellent vineyards for Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Merlot. Manual fertilization with cow manure or humus, very short pruning with 5-8 buds per plant, two successive thinning practices, and a very low yield ensure that Voerzio harvests only very healthy and ripe grapes each year, rich in sugars, aromas, and fragrances. In all various operations in the winery, Roberto Voerzio does not use any substances that may alter the nature of the wine. Alcoholic fermentation can last up to 30 days and occurs spontaneously without the addition of yeasts. Following malolactic fermentation in steel tanks, all wines, except Dolcetto, are aged in wood. The wines from the Voerzio winery undergo no filtration and have a great potential for aging: the vigneron recommends drinking them after at least 5-6 years of bottle aging and claims they can evolve over 20-30 years. Thanks to his meticulous, almost obsessive work, and very careful research, Voerzio manages to produce wines of extraordinary purity and very high quality, elegant and capable of expressing the territory at its best. Wines that cannot be missed in the cellars of every great wine lover.
