Cru iconic of the Tenuta Castello di Nipozzano, the Montesodi di Frescobaldi was born in 1974 and is produced only in the best vintages with Sangiovese in purity from a single vineyard at 400 meters s.l.m., considered the most vocated of the estate. The soils rich in galestro enhance the most important Tuscan variety, highlighting its elegance and longevity. After the manual harvest, fermentation takes place in steel, followed by prolonged maceration and aging of about 18 months in 30 hl French oak barrels, followed by a rest in the bottle. The wine is intense and aristocratic, with notes of black cherry, wilted violet, licorice, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is broad, structured, and lively, with silky tannins and a very long persistence. A Sangiovese of rare elegance and emotion, capable of challenging time.

It is one of the oldest wine families in Italy, with roots that delve into a past rich in tradition and innovation. With a presence that encompasses the most prestigious denominations of Tuscany, such as the DOCG Chianti, Brunello, and Bolgheri, Frescobaldi stands out for a modern approach that never forgets to respect the history and terroir that surrounds it.

THE WINE
Cru iconic of the Tenuta Castello di Nipozzano, the Montesodi di Frescobaldi was born in 1974 and is produced only in the best vintages with Sangiovese in purity from a single vineyard at 400 meters s.l.m., considered the most suitable of the estate since always. The soils rich in galestro enhance the most important Tuscan variety, highlighting its elegance and longevity. After hand harvesting, we proceed with fermentation in steel, prolonged maceration and aging for about 18 months in French oak barrels of 30 hl, followed by a bottle resting. The wine is intense and aristocratic, with notes of black cherry, withered violet, licorice, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is broad, structured, and lively, with silky tannins and very long persistence. A Sangiovese of rare elegance and emotion, capable of defying time.
THE COMPANY
No other Italian winery can boast the history, prestige, and vision of the Marchesi Frescobaldi. A Florentine family dedicated for thirty generations and for 700 years to the production of great wines, with the constant goal of being the most prestigious Tuscan producer. A reality that has always believed in respecting the land, focuses on the excellence of its grapes, invests in communication and the professionalism of human resources without ever forgetting respect for tradition and openness to research and experimentation. In 1855, as the first in Tuscany, they planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay in the estates of Nipozzano and Pomino. In 1894, they built in Pomino, not far from Florence, the first Italian winery capable of using natural gravity for transferring from barrels and distinguished themselves, during the same period, for introducing the “specialized vineyard.” In 1989, they acquired the Castelgiocondo estate in Montalcino, and in 1995 inaugurated the Tenuta Luce della Vite in Montalcino, to which the Tenuta Conti Attems in Friuli was added in 2000. Recent bright projects include the control of the Tenuta dell’Ornellaia in Bolgheri in 2005, and in 2011 the inauguration of the very modern Ammiraglia winery in Maremma. All wines labeled “Marchesi Frescobaldi” are born from passion, experience, skill, and love for an elected territory, Tuscany, which has become the ideal cradle for wines of the highest quality. With a vineyard area that currently totals nearly a thousand hectares, and an annual production of around seven million bottles, from the Chianti area to that of Pomino, from Montalcino to Maremma, the perfect knowledge of the environment and the uniqueness of the terroirs ensure a constant quality and a distinctive personality of the wines, all - without exception - exceptional. The labels of “Marchesi Frescobaldi” are elegant and harmonious, balanced and engaging, exciting and unique.
