The Navy Strength Gin by Hernö is the high proof version (57%) with more pronounced aroma and taste, where some notes emerge, are exalted, and glorified. The aroma leans towards the resinous notes of Juniper, which predominates, followed by citrus, slightly sweet, but decisive. The flavor is strong; of course, the alcohol is felt, but it is overall very pleasant, with few frills, and clear, distinct aromas. It is made with natural organic ingredients carefully selected: the juniper berries come from Hungary, coriander seeds from Bulgaria, cranberries from Sweden, black pepper from India, and vanilla from Madagascar. The cassia is imported from Indonesia, and meadowsweet from the United Kingdom. All the lemons are peeled by hand. Fabulous.

THE GIN
The Navy Strength Gin from Hernö is the high-proof (57%) version with more pronounced aroma and flavor, where certain notes emerge, are exalted, and glorified. The aroma leans towards the resinous notes of Juniper, which predominates, followed by citrus, not too sweet but assertive. The taste is strong; of course, the alcohol is noticeable, but overall it is very pleasant, with few frills, and clear, distinct aromas. It is made with natural organic ingredients that are carefully selected: the juniper berries come from Hungary, coriander seeds from Bulgaria, cranberries from Sweden, black pepper from India, and vanilla from Madagascar. Cassia is imported from Indonesia, and the queen of meadows from the United Kingdom. All lemons are peeled by hand. Fabulous.
THE DISTILLERY
In 1999, Jon Hillgren, along with some friends, went to London to work as a bartender. Here he discovered gin, which captured his interest to the point of prompting him to delve into distillation methods and techniques, which Hillgren learned even by pursuing academic studies. This is how in 2011 the “Hernö Gin Distillery” was born, located in the city of Härnösand, Sweden. Inside a traditional Swedish house, painted white and red with a wooden floor, “Kierstin,” the handcrafted copper still, affectionately named this way, was placed. Using certified and exclusively organic products, the Hernö distillery, the only gin distillery in Sweden, produces its distillates following the “one-shot” method, which is certainly complex and costly, but ensures that the final product has a significantly superior quality.
