Kerner
Kerner is a white wine that embodies the essence of South Tyrol, a region renowned for its extraordinary winemaking vocation. This variety has fascinating origins: it was born from the cross between Schiava Grossa, a red variety, and Riesling, a famous white grape. Created at the beginning of the 20th century by German botanist August Herold, Kerner is named after the German poet and doctor Justinus Kerner, known for his passion for wine.
Mainly cultivated in the mountainous areas of South Tyrol, Kerner thrives in vineyards located at high altitudes, where the temperature fluctuations between day and night enhance the freshness and aromatic quality of the wine. The morainic soils, rich in minerals, further contribute to its distinctive profile, while the sunny climate of the Alps provides these grapes with excellent ripening.
Kerner presents itself with a bright straw-yellow color, sometimes with greenish reflections. On the nose, it offers a complex and fascinating aromatic bouquet. The predominant aromas are those of white-fleshed fruits, such as apple and peach, enriched by floral notes of wildflowers and citrus hints of lime and grapefruit. Its freshness is balanced by a delicate spiciness, reminiscent of white pepper and alpine herbs.
On the palate, Kerner surprises with its liveliness and structure. Its well-integrated acidity creates a perfect balance with the medium body and velvety texture. Juicy fruit flavors blend with vibrant minerality, offering a long and persistent finish that leaves a pleasant sensation of freshness.
Kerner is a versatile wine, ideal for accompanying a wide range of dishes. It pairs beautifully with seafood appetizers, shellfish, and sushi, but is also an excellent match for vegetarian dishes and fresh cheeses. Thanks to its elegance and complexity, Kerner is also perfect as an aperitif, for those who wish to start a meal with a glass of pure refinement.

Whether you are a long-time enthusiast or a curious newcomer, Kerner will certainly provide you with an unforgettable sensory experience.
