Chateau de Ferrand

In the heart of the famous Saint-Émilion appellation, Château de Ferrand represents one of the most fascinating and historic realities of the Bordeaux landscape. Founded in the early 18th century by Elie De Bétoulaud, a brilliant lawyer, poet, and patron, as well as an intimate friend of the Sun King, the estate was established with the ambition of emulating the sumptuous atmosphere of the Palace of Versailles. A dream that took shape among refined architectures, underground galleries, and an expanse of land that still enchants today.
In 1978, the entry of the Bich family, famous for creating the Bic empire, marked a new era for Ferrand. After the baron's death, the property remained firmly in the hands of his family, today represented by Pauline Bich Chandon-Moët and her husband Philippe Chandon-Moët, heirs of two great names in French tradition. Since 2010, they have initiated an ambitious renewal plan: replanting the vineyards based on ampelographic studies, selecting the clones most suitable for the terroir, adopting sustainable viticultural practices, and expanding the infrastructure with custom vats for selected plots.
In 2012, thanks to this forward-looking vision, Château de Ferrand was awarded the title of Saint-Émilion Grand cru Classé. The property now extends over 42 hectares, 32 of which are planted with Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (29%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (1%), cultivated with artisanal care and innovative spirit.
