Its traditional alberello vine training, listed by UNESCO in 2014 as an intangible cultural heritage, is a symbol of the island’s resilience and character.
Here, in the Mueggen area, stands a historic 17th-century dammuso: the heart of the Ferrandes estate. A family-run winery producing just 5,000 bottles per year, Ferrandes is led by Salvatore “Salvatureddu” Ferrandes and his wife Dominica. The vineyard spans just 2.7 hectares, exclusively planted with Zibibbo, cultivated using traditional and natural methods certified by Consorzio Vini Veri.
Harvested by hand and sun-dried on lava-stone beds for 8–15 days, the grapes are vinified in small tanks and aged six months in steel. The result is a wine of exceptional complexity and elegance, with dried apricot, honey, and candied citrus notes. Perfect with blue cheese, dry pastries, dark chocolate, or traditional Sicilian desserts.
