The Isola dei Nuraghi IGT Vermentino Late Harvest 2023 by Capichera originates in Gallura on granite-based soils, poor and highly draining, enhancing aromatic depth and marked minerality. The ventilated Mediterranean climate, with wide temperature variations, ensures slow ripening ideal for late harvesting. A pure Vermentino, the grapes are picked at full sugar and aromatic concentration, delivering natural complexity and richness. The wine then ages 4 months in oak barriques, adding elegance without overshadowing the fruit. Aromas of lavender, white flowers and Mediterranean scrub lead to a warm, enveloping, mineral and citrus-driven palate with a long, persistent finish. Excellent with desserts, semi-aged cheeses, shellfish and structured seafood dishes.

Capichera

In the enchanting setting of Sardinia, a land of ancient traditions and breathtaking landscapes, stands the renowned winery Capichera. Located in a region that is a true treasure trove of biodiversity, Capichera has turned its passion for wine into a mission: to enhance the potential of Vermentino, the symbolic grape variety of the island. Founded with the aim of exploring and rediscovering the enological riches of Sardinia, the winery has gained a prominent position in the Italian wine scene.
The territory where Capichera has its roots is that of the IGT Isola dei Nuraghi denomination, an area that brings to mind ancient civilizations and natural wonders. Here, under a clear sky and generous sun, the vineyards of Vermentino and Carignano absorb the sea breeze and the scents of the Mediterranean, giving the wines a unique complexity and depth. Capichera adopts a production approach that combines tradition and innovation, with a rigorous respect for the environment and meticulous care for every stage of winemaking.
Vermentino, the true protagonist of the lands of Capichera, finds its highest expression in labels like VT and Santigaini. The VT enchants with its aromatic richness and ability to evolve over time, while the Santigaini, with its decisive and enveloping character, tells of intense and refined flavors. Both wines evoke the colors and scents of Sardinia, transporting those who taste them on a sensory journey through this fascinating island.
Discover on Vino45 the extraordinary labels signed by Capichera: an invitation to explore the authenticity and excellence of Sardinian wine production, in a meeting between tradition and innovation that highlights the best of this unique land.

THE COMPANY

The extreme north of Sardinia sees Gallura as an area particularly suited for viticulture. Here, in the 1970s, the story of the Capichera winery began, thanks to the Ragnedda family, who planted new vermentino vineyards and built a winery for the production of high-quality wines. With much enthusiasm but also considerable investments and a great expenditure of energy, the young brothers Fabrizio and Mario Ragnedda began working in the winery in the early 1980s, just as the first bottles of Vermentino with the Capichera label were being marketed for the first time. Currently, Capichera distributes its wines internationally, and the original ten hectares of vineyard have grown to sixty. The quality level has seen a constant and continuous increase, and at the same time, while following the path of innovation and experimentation, the typicity of each label is maximally protected without compromise. Among the rows, the training system is partly Guyot and partly spurred cordon, with some plants also trained as bush vines, but above all, every agronomic practice is adopted wisely and carefully to ensure that from harvest to harvest, the grapes meet the highest quality standards. In the winery, the oldest local traditions are wonderfully combined with the most modern enological technologies, so that, with maximum respect for the intrinsic characteristics of the raw material, research and experimentation are continuous and constant. Every wine labeled Capichera is characterized by a great extractive concentration, high alcohol power, and a pronounced fruit maturity. The result is that, to this day, all lovers of Italian wine products know the legendary brothers Mario and Fabrizio, who have played a fundamental role in positively changing the face of Sardinian viticulture.
