THE COMPANY
A winery that for decades has represented the best that South Tyrol can express in terms of finesse and longevity. Founded in 1893 in the eponymous locality not far from Merano, the Terlano winery is one of the most advanced producer cooperatives not only in all of South Tyrol but also in the entire Italian Peninsula, to the point of being considered a symbol of the most perfect cooperation mechanism in the wine sector. Its 143 members cultivate a total of 165 hectares of vineyards, resulting in an annual production that far exceeds one million bottles. Mind-blowing numbers that go hand in hand with the best wines of the region, both white and red, which consistently satisfy both the public and critics. Thus, Antonio Galloni of Wine Advocate in 2011 stated: “The best wines from South Tyrol that I have tasted this year come from the Terlano Winery. In short, they are benchmark wines. Wines that should be in every important cellar.” A path of absolute quality that the members of the Terlano Winery have confidently pursued over the decades, earning them fame and recognition in the Italian and international wine market. And so here are pinot bianco, chardonnay, pinot grigio, müller thurgau, gewürztraminer, and sauvignon blanc, as well as lagrein, schiava, pinot noir, and torilan: grape varieties that are exalted in their essence when crafted into traditional labels, becoming now renowned names when interpreted in the “selection-labels”: Terlaner, Winkl, Kreuth, Vorberg, Gries, Siebeneich, Siemegg, Monticol, Quarz, Nova Domus, Lunare, Porphyr. In short, names that over the years have rightfully gained prestige and international recognition, turning the Terlano winery into a true institution not only of South Tyrolean wine but of the entire Italian wine scene.
