THE COMPANY
A winery that has represented the best that South Tyrol can express in terms of finesse and longevity for decades. Founded in 1893 in the homonymous location not far from Merano, the Terlano winery is one of the most advanced producer cooperatives not only in all of South Tyrol but also in the entire Italian Peninsula, to the point of being taken as a symbol of the most perfect mechanism of cooperation in the wine sector. Its 143 members cultivate a total of 165 hectares of vineyards, corresponding to an annual total production that exceeds well over one million bottles. Astounding numbers, which go hand in hand with the best wines of the region, both white and red, capable of consistently satisfying both the public and critics alike. Thus, Antonio Galloni of Wine Advocate in 2011 said: “The best South Tyrolean wines I have tasted this year come from the Cantina Terlano. In short, they are benchmark wines. Wines that should not be missing in any important cellar.” A path, that of absolute quality, which the members of the Cantina di Terlano have embarked on with conviction over the decades, earning them fame and recognition in both the Italian and international wine markets. And so here is pinot bianco, chardonnay, pinot grigio, müller thurgau, gewürztraminer, and sauvignon blanc, then also lagrein, schiava, pinot noir, and torilan: grape varieties that are exalted in their essence when worked into traditional labels, and which become names - by now - resounding when interpreted in the “selection labels”: Terlaner, Winkl, Kreuth, Vorberg, Gries, Siebeneich, Siemegg, Monticol, Quarz, Nova Domus, Lunare, Porphyr. In short, names that over the years have rightly earned international prestige and notoriety, turning the Terlano winery itself into a true institution not only of South Tyrolean wine but of the entire Italian wine scene.
