Antinori

The Antinori Family has been dedicated to wine production for over six hundred years: since 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri. Throughout its long history, through 26 generations, the family has always directly managed this activity with innovative and sometimes courageous choices, but always maintaining unwavering respect for traditions and the territory.
Today the company is led by Albiera Antinori, with the support of her two sisters Allegra and Alessia, who are personally involved in the company activities. The Marquis Piero Antinori is currently the Honorary President of the company. Tradition, passion, and intuition have been the driving qualities that have led the Marchesi Antinori to establish themselves as one of the leading Italian wine producers. Every vintage, every land, every idea that wants to be implemented is a new beginning, a new search for ever higher quality margins.
As the Marquis Piero likes to say: “the ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never inhibited our innovative spirit.” Over time, in addition to the estates in Tuscany and Umbria, which are the family's historical heritage, investments have been made in other areas suitable for quality wine production both in Italy and abroad, where a new path of enhancing new "terroirs" with high wine-growing potential could be undertaken. The Marchesi Antinori expresses its passion for viticulture by seeking ever finer margins of improvement. For this reason, continuous experiments are carried out in vineyards and cellars with selections of clones of native and international grapes, types of cultivation, vineyard altitudes, fermentation methods and temperatures, traditional and modern winemaking techniques, different types of wood, sizes and ages of barrels, and varying the length of bottle aging. "We have demonstrated, over the years, that in Tuscany and Umbria there was the possibility to produce quality wines, recognized internationally, which could show elegance and finesse while always maintaining the original character.
Our library has many titles, but for us, it is not rich enough. We have a mission that is not entirely accomplished, which drives us to express the vast potential of our vineyards and to reconcile the new that remains to be discovered with the heritage of Tuscan taste that includes tradition, culture, agriculture, the artistic and the literary that indeed represent the identity of the Marchesi Antinori, of which one of the major strengths lies in being Tuscan, or, if you prefer, our 'Tuscanity'." Piero Antinori
The Antinori family has been part of PFV, "Premum Familiae Vini," an informal association of family-owned wine companies, since its founding. PFV goes beyond geographical boundaries and maintains a common bond: that of vineyard ownership and wine production as a family activity to be cultivated and refined, like a great wine, over time.

The Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso 2022 by Antinori is a prestigious Supertuscan, emblem of the Bolgheri terroir and among the most acclaimed Italian wines worldwide. The Tenuta "Guado al Tasso"It is located near Bolgheri, on the Tuscan coast, 96 km southwest of Florence. The 300 hectares of vineyards of the Tenuta They are located at the center of the so-called "Bolgheri amphitheater": soft hills surround a beautiful plain that slopes down to the sea, creating a microclimate with unique characteristics. Guado al Tasso, the estate's "flagship" wine, expresses all the strength and smoothness of this part of Maremma.
It has contributed to elevating Bolgheri among the most important wine regions in Europe, expressing a distinctly Mediterranean character made of power, elegance, and balance.
Bolgheri, prestigious, small DOC where Guado al Tasso is located, has been famous for rosé wines since the 1970s. In 1984, it received the Denomination of Controlled Origin recognition for these wines and for whites, which was later extended to reds in 1994. However, the area is now well-known and highly regarded.
The estate covers an area of over 1,000 hectares, with 300 hectares planted with vineyards. There is also a forest, the Macchia del Bruciato, where Cinta Senese pigs and other animals are raised semi-wild. The vineyards, located at an elevation of 45-60 meters above sea level on soils of varying composition, are planted with Vermentino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, with small quantities of other varieties.
Thanks to the mild climate due to the nearby presence
Due to the sea and the constant breezes that moderate the summer heat and the winter harshness, while keeping the skies clear and maintaining a high level of sunshine, the grape harvest here usually takes place at the end of August, two weeks earlier than in more inland areas of Tuscany. It is an ideal climate also for the small nursery where the "barbatelle," the young plants of different varieties for the other estates, grow. Antinori in Tuscany and Umbria.
