The 'GrandMalbec' by Terrazas de Los Andes comes from a prized plot of the Las Compuertas estate, planted in 1929 with Malbec grapes, and reserved exclusively for the production of higher prestige. The vineyard is cultivated at an altitude of 1,070 meters, where the old vines are able to enhance the varietal characteristics of this ancient Bordeaux grape. The wine matures for 16-18 months in French oak barrels. It has great structure, thanks to the natural aromatic concentration of the old vines, offering a high-end version of Malbec. Aromas of ripe cherry, small berries, red plum, hints of vanilla, and soft spices. Structured, intense, and enveloping, with very fine and evolved tannins, and an elegant and harmonious sip, with a fresh and persistent finish.

THE COMPANY

Terrazas de Los Andes is an Argentine winery located in Perdriel and manages a magnificent estate with vineyards cultivated at the foot of the majestic peaks of the Andes Mountains. Argentine viticulture has very ancient origins and its symbol grape, Malbec, was introduced to the country around the mid-1800s. The winery was created in 1898 by Sotero Arizu, but the recent history of Terrazas de Los Andes began in 1960, when the famous French group Moët & Chandon decided to invest in Argentina, aware of the extraordinary potential of this land. The estate is divided into several vineyards, located in particularly suitable areas, in Luján de Cuyo in Mendoza and in the Uco Valley.
The winery is located in a truly unique territory, within a wild and extreme natural context. The vineyards are located at altitude, on poor and rocky soils, low in organic matter. The climate is very sunny, with hot days and cold nights, which favor slow ripening and allow for high acidity to be preserved. Each variety is cultivated in the most suitable zone for soils and microclimate, in order to obtain grapes of excellent quality. The vineyards are divided into various parcels to enable precision viticulture and highlight the nuances of the terroir. The property is divided into numerous estates, which constitute individual and particular productive units.
