Kaltern Cantina di Caldaro

In the heart of the picturesque Trentino-Alto Adige, where mountains embrace the sky and vines gracefully climb the slopes, lies the renowned Kaltern Cantina di Caldaro. This historic cooperative is not only a symbol of quality but also an example of how shared passion can give birth to mountain wines that speak of ancient traditions and the land that hosts them. The winery has carved out a place of honor in the wine scene thanks to its ability to blend respect for nature with unparalleled artisanal precision.
The gentle hills surrounding Caldaro offer a unique terroir, where the vines of Schiava, Lagrein, and Gewürztraminer find their ideal habitat. Here, each cluster matures slowly, cradled by cool winds and generous sun, until it is ready to be transformed into divine nectar. The DOC Alto Adige designation ensures that every bottle encapsulates the very essence of these places, elegantly expressing the peculiarities of each grape variety.
The winery is particularly renowned for its flagship labels, such as Quintessenz and Pinot Bianco, wines that best represent the philosophy of Kaltern. Quintessenz, with its complex structure and intense aromas, is a tribute to the Alto Adige wine tradition, while Pinot Bianco surprises with its freshness and refined acidity, telling of a land that knows how to combine strength and delicacy.
Every sip of Kaltern Cantina di Caldaro wines is an invitation to explore a world of flavors and emotions, a journey among the majestic peaks of Trentino-Alto Adige and its enchanting valleys. THE COMPANY
Cantina Kaltern is a historic cooperative that represents the entire municipality and its wine producers. It is the spokesperson for wines that are produced near Lake Caldaro and, in particular, the Kalterersee variety (Schiava). These are typical bottles produced by a large community with sensitivity, passion, and expertise: fine, complex, and wonderfully simple to love. The winery, which has its roots dating back to 1900, took over a century to become what it is now and what it represents: professionalism, passion, a sense of belonging, experience, and high-quality standards. Today it is one of the most important realities in South Tyrol, and the same wine-producing municipality of Caldaro, the most well-known and loved in the region, is proud of its reputation. In this small piece of land, wine is the great protagonist of the community's life: it has provided and continues to provide jobs, fills the inhabitants and farmers with pride, and is for many residents a full-time professional commitment pursued with great passion in many different fields, whether among the vineyards, in the cellar, in gastronomy, or in commerce.
The Cantina Kaltern is a large family that includes 650 winegrower members, most of whom own less than one hectare of land (on average 0.7 hectares, which is equivalent to a soccer field), for a total of 450 hectares. They are passionate and loving winemakers, making a living through other professions and indulging in the art of winemaking during their free time. Part of the enchanting charm of Kaltern surely derives from this.
The wines from Cantina Kaltern come from the oldest DOC area in South Tyrol and mature in the best soils surrounding Lake Caldaro. They are the result of great sensitivity, passion, and the use of cutting-edge techniques. There are three quality lines: Quintessenz - the most important line, born from the best vineyards of the property. Selezione – from carefully selected vineyards to bring a world of sensations into the glass. Classici - express the most authentic character of the territory and the grape. Let yourself be captivated by the wines of Lake Caldaro that express the most carefree joy of drinking.
