'Il Poggiomandorlo' is the flagship label of the winery of the same name. Since its foundation, Poggio Mandorlo has heavily focused on Bordeaux grape varieties Merlot and Cabernet Franc, which make up the blend of this prestigious label. A full-bodied Super Tuscan of great character, born from the blend of Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Franc (30%), aged in French oak barriques for 30 months. After at least a year of further aging in glass, the wine is finally ready to be marketed. The tasting reveals the elegance and complexity of great Tuscan red wines: rounded aromas of fruit, leather, and tobacco, delicate mineral and herbal notes. Full, harmonious, and satisfying taste, with a sweet tannic structure that leads to a persistent and harmonious finish.

THE WINE
'Il Poggiomandorlo' is the flagship label of the winery of the same name. Since its foundation, Poggio Mandorlo has strongly focused on Bordeaux grape varieties Merlot and Cabernet Franc, which make up the blend of this fine label. A Supertuscan full-bodied wine of great character, born from the blend of Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Franc (30%), aged in French oak barrels for 30 months. After at least a year of further aging in glass, the wine is finally ready to be marketed. The tasting reveals the elegance and complexity of great Tuscan red wines: round aromas of fruit, leather, and tobacco, delicate mineral and herbaceous perceptions. Full, harmonious, and satisfying taste, with a sweet tannic structure that leads to a persistent and harmonious finish.
THE COMPANY

Poggio Mandorlo is located in Seggiano, in the Alta Maremma area that rises towards the slopes of Mount Amiata, within the Montecucco DOCG denomination. It is a young reality that was created in 2001 by four friends: Roberto, Felice, Giuseppe, and Fabio, who decided to bring their dream to life and enhance a land of great potential. The project has been guided by the expertise and experience of Roberto Cipresso, one of the most famous Italian winemakers in the world, also thanks to his numerous international consultancies. Today, the direction of the enological part is entrusted to Filippo Paoletti, a great connoisseur of Tuscany and among the best interpreters of Sangiovese, who has worked for many years with many realities in the nearby Montalcino area.
The estate is situated in an area of Tuscany particularly suited for viticulture, between the Val d'Orcia, Montalcino, Sant'Antimo, and Mount Amiata. The property extends over a total of 38 hectares, of which 12 are planted with vines mainly dedicated to red grape varieties Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, and one hectare is designated for the cultivation of olive trees, particularly the highly prized native cultivar Olivastra Seggianese, among the best in our peninsula. The vineyards are cultivated at an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level, within a still wild natural context rich in large wooded areas. The climate is cool and continental, with significant temperature fluctuations and constant ventilation, all conditions that favor perfect health of the clusters and slow maturation of the grapes, with intense and elegant aromatic profiles.
The soils are of a rather complex and heterogeneous nature, with the presence of marl and calcareous-clay schists in the lower areas and soils composed of galestro, quartz, and tuff as you ascend to the higher altitudes. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc vineyards have been created with French clones from Saint-Émilion, while the Sangiovese comes directly from the Montalcino area. The winery has been designed to be harmoniously integrated into the environmental context with minimal impact on the landscape. It is structured on three levels, following the natural profile of the hill and has been built with local stones recovered during the vineyard layout. The wines are characterized by finesse, elegance, and are always marked by a remarkable freshness, typical of the terroir.
