The Galatrona by Petrolo is one of the most iconic reds of Tuscany, a pure Merlot that combines strength and elegance. Considered the flagship of the estate, it is an award-winning Supertuscan, which has established itself for over a decade among the most appreciated Italian labels in the world. The grapes come from organically cultivated vines on the hills of the Alta Val d’Arno, with soils of clay and galestro that confer character and depth. After an aging of 15 months in barrique, the wine expresses silky tannins, a nose rich in black fruits, sweet spices, and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is soft, full-bodied, and harmonious, with a long and refined persistence. A noble and enveloping wine, emblematic of the best expression of Italian Merlot.

THE WINE
The Galatrona by Petrolo is one of the most iconic reds of Tuscany, a pure Merlot that combines strength and elegance. Considered the flagship of the estate, it is a multi-award-winning Supertuscan, having established itself for over a decade among the most appreciated Italian labels in the world. The grapes come from organically grown vineyards on the hills of the Alta Val d’Arno, with soils of clay and galestro that give character and depth. After an aging of 15 months in barriques, the wine expresses itself with silky tannins, a nose rich in dark fruits, sweet spices, and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is soft, full-bodied, and harmonious, with a long and refined persistence. A noble and enveloping wine, emblematic of the best expression of Italian Merlot.
THE ESTATE

The winery Petrolo is located in the province of Arezzo, in the municipality of Mercatale Valdarno, among the green Tuscan hills. The estate was part of the Galatrona feudal estate in the Middle Ages, as evidenced by the ancient tower, from which the wines Petrolo take their name, and the parish church that contains a baptismal font by Giovanni della Robbia. For four generations, it has belonged to the Bazzocchi-Sanjust family, and the estate of Petrolo extends over more than 270 hectares, of which about thirty are currently planted with vineyards, while twenty are dedicated to olive cultivation. Since the second half of the 1980s, the goal of the winery Petrolo has been the absolute quality of the wines produced, starting from the understanding and interpretation of the enormous potential of the territory. Today, the rows are managed according to organic farming standards. A complete and harmonious range of labels, expressive and particularly faithful to the terroir of origin, constantly striving towards the highest quality levels. Simply extraordinary wines.
