The Barolo Bussia Riserva 'Vigna Colonnello' by Prunotto, produced for the first time in 1961, comes from a precious one-hectare vineyard in the Monforte d’Alba area, in the Bussia zone. It represents the union of the two souls of Barolo and celebrates the meeting of two chosen terroirs. A wine with velvety tannins, capable of expressing the finesse and elegance of the terroir. The 2014 vintage, a complex year from a climatic point of view, has reserved pleasant surprises in the quality of the vinified grapes thanks to a favorable end of the season. It matures in French oak for 18 months and for 24 months in steel. It ages for 24 months in the bottle. Prunotto

In the heart of the Piedmontese Langhe, a region where hills dance with the morning mists, stands Prunotto, a winery that for decades has embodied the very essence of Langhe viticulture. Its history is a blend of tradition and innovation, begun in the early 1900s and today carried forward with passion and expertise by the prestigious Antinori family. Prunotto is a symbol of oenological excellence that has managed to maintain its connection to the territory, enhancing the most renowned DOCG of the area: Barolo and Barbaresco.
The vineyards of Prunotto thrive in the clayey and calcareous lands typical of the Langhe, where grapes like Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto find their ideal habitat. It is here that wines of extraordinary elegance and depth are born, capable of telling stories of ancient soils and skilled hands. The production philosophy of Prunotto is based on respecting tradition, with an ever-open eye to innovation and sustainability, to offer wines that are both authentic and modern.
Among the labels that best represent the soul of Prunotto stands out the Barolo Bussia, a wine that embodies the power and refinement of Nebbiolo. This wine, with its notes of ripe red fruits, spices, and dried flowers, is a sensory journey that accompanies the taster through the Langhe hills, with a tannic structure that promises longevity and charm over time.
I invite you to discover the labels of Prunotto on Vino45, to experience an oenological journey that combines history, territory, and passion in every glass. An opportunity to immerse yourself in the authentic flavors of Piedmont and be captivated by its timeless elegance.

THE COMPANY

It was the early 20th century, specifically 1904, when the cooperative winery "Ai Vini delle Langhe" was founded in Serralunga d'Alba. However, after just under twenty years, it began to experience serious financial problems and was put into liquidation. In 1922, Alfredo... Prunotto chose to acquire the company, simultaneously giving it its own name. Since then, year after year, the success has been uninterrupted, and the winery Prunotto began exporting wines all over the world. In 1954, the same Alfredo Prunotto decided to sell the company to his friend, winemaker Beppe Colla, who in turn, forty years later, in 1994, chose to sell the winery to the family of Marchesi Antinori. Currently, the property Prunotto extends over a total area of about fifty hectares of vineyards, divided among some of the best wine-growing areas in Piedmont, such as Bussia, Bric Turot, and Costamiole. Among the rows, the vines are cared for with rigor and consistency, raised as if they were children, and cultivated with full respect for the environment, nature, and ecosystem. In the cellar, although they can rely on the most modern winemaking technologies, the primary goal remains to enhance and exalt what the season and the territory have been able to express in the fruit. It is in this way that the wine company... Prunotto It offers an important range of labels, divided between the classic line and the selections line, the latter created to enhance the individual crus. In this context, young Alfredo... Prunotto he meets and marries Luigina, with whom he decides to take over the "Ai Vini delle Langhe" Social Winery, giving it their own name. The Winery, thanks to the passion of the two spouses, soon becomes famous and begins to export wines all over the world: first to South America and later to the United States, whose markets open up in those years. The Prunotto is one of the few companies to believe in that economic perspective. In 1956, Alfredo Prunotto decided to retire from business, handing over the company to his friend winemaker Beppe Colla, assisted by Carlo Filiberti and later by his brother Tino Colla. The winery Prunotto, In 1961, he began to identify typical areas of particularly valuable production for the separate vinification of the cru, such as the Barolo Bussia and the Barbera d'Alba Pian Romualdo. In 1972, Ugo della Piana, an architect of Langhe origin, designed the new winery, which will be built near Alba where the company's headquarters still are today. In 1989, the family of Marchesi Antinori he begins his collaboration with the company Prunotto, initially dealing with distribution and then, in 1994, with the withdrawal of the Colla brothers, also directly managing production, maintaining the excellent quality level strongly desired by Alfredo. Prunotto. One of the most important goals that the family sets for itself. Antinori, in accordance with the Colla family, is to produce from owned vineyards and have a more careful control of the product right from its inception. This project materialized in 1990, when Albiera Antinori, the firstborn of Marquis Piero Antinori, further outlines the personality of the winery, paying particular attention to the acquisitions of vineyards, first among which: the Costamiole vineyard in Agliano, for the production of Barbera d'Asti, and the vineyard in the Bussia cru, one of the most renowned in the area of Barolo and land in Calliano for the study and analysis of new grape varieties such as Albarossa and Syrah. In 1996, a 5-hectare vineyard in the area is also acquired. Barbaresco, named "Bric Turot" and one of 5 hectares in the Treiso area for the production of Moscato.
