This wine manages to enhance the typical characteristics of the territory such as the freshness and delicacy of its aromas, along with a powerful tannin. It is left to macerate on the skins for 15 days in wooden vats, then ages for 1 year in 25-hectoliter barrels.

Skerk

In the evocative setting of the Carso, a land of stone and wind that stretches between the Adriatic and the Alps, lies the winery Skerk. Here, amidst the contrasts of a rugged and captivating landscape, rows of vines produce wines of rare authenticity. Skerk is a name that resonates in the world of orange wines, a craft reality that has established itself as a reference point for those seeking the purest and most genuine expression of this corner of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
The winery Skerk is immersed in the timeless charm of the Carso, where the land is a mosaic of limestone stones and the Mediterranean scrub meets the bora. Here, native grapes such as Vitovska, Malvasia, and Terrano thrive in a unique microclimate, forging an unmistakable character that reflects in every glass. The Venezia Giulia IGT designation is the seal that guarantees the authenticity of these wines, products of a production philosophy that embraces maceration and respect for nature.
The Vitovska of Skerk is a sensory journey through mineral notes and delicate floral nuances, a wine that captures the essence of the Carso with its complex and enveloping structure. No less enchanting is the Ograde, a blend that unites the strength and refinement of native varieties, revealing itself in a crescendo of aromas that evoke the land and the sea.

THE WINE
The Venezia Giulia Terrano by Skerk is a biological terrano in purity, a symbolic grape variety of the karst viticulture and a relative of refosco. This wine enhances the typical characteristics of the territory such as freshness and the delicacy of its aromas, alongside a powerful tannin. It is left to macerate on the skins for 15 days in wooden tanks, and then ages for 1 year in 25 hectoliter barrels.
THE COMPANY
Founded in 1990, the estate Skerk is a young and continuously growing company thanks to the quality of its products. The 6 hectares of property, located in Prepotto on the Karst Plateau, benefit from a climate and terroir perfect for the cultivation of the vitovska, Istrian malvasia, sauvignon, pinot grigio, and terrano grape varieties, which indeed express themselves at exceptional levels. The company's philosophy adopts a fully natural and organic approach, with certification to prove it, prohibiting any chemical treatment. The winery itself is a simple cave carved into the karst rock where the wines, never clarified or filtered, undergo macerations and fermentations. Sandi Skerk, the owner of the company, has succeeded in producing unique wines with a typical Friulian imprint, now highly appreciated by both the public and critics inside and outside Italian borders.
