Icon of the estate Castello di Nipozzano, the Mormoreto di Frescobaldi is a Supertuscan of rare elegance, born in 1983 from a historic vineyard planted in 1976, on sandy-silty soils rich in minerals at about 300 meters s.l.m.. The blend consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, international varieties planted 150 years ago that find here a unique territorial expression. The manual harvest is followed by fermentation in steel and a maturation of 24 months in barrique, with subsequent refinement in bottle. The color is intense ruby red with garnet reflections. On the nose, it opens with complex notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, chocolate, spices, and mentholated balsamic notes. On the palate, it is rich, structured, and velvety, with mature tannins and a long and persistent finish. A wine of great longevity, ideal with important meat dishes or aged cheeses.

Frescobaldi

Nestled in the wonderful Tuscan lands, where time seems to have stopped to celebrate the beauty of nature and winemaking art, the winery Frescobaldi tells a story that spans generations. It is one of the oldest wine families in Italy, with roots that dig deep into a past rich in tradition and innovation. With a presence that embraces the most prestigious denominations of Tuscany, such as DOCG Chianti, Brunello, and Bolgheri, Frescobaldi stands out for a modern approach that never forgets to respect the history and the terroir that surrounds it.
The estates of Frescobaldi are a mosaic of winemaking excellence, where each vineyard is nurtured with dedication and love for the land. Here, under the warm Tuscan sun, Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are born, each an expression of a unique territory and unparalleled savoir-faire. The production philosophy of Frescobaldi is a perfect balance between tradition and innovation, where ancient wisdom blends with the most modern winemaking techniques to create wines with distinctive and unmistakable character.
Among the labels that make up the prestigious portfolio of Frescobaldi, the Nipozzano and CastelGiocondo stand out, two wines that embody the essence of Tuscany. The Nipozzano, with its enveloping structure and intense aromas, is the perfect companion for those wishing to explore the depth of Tuscan wines. The CastelGiocondo, on the other hand, is a Brunello di Montalcino with a refined and complex character, capable of narrating, sip by sip, the magic of a legendary territory.

THE ESTATE
No other Italian winery can boast the history, prestige, and vision of the Marchesi Frescobaldi. A Florentine family dedicated for thirty generations and for 700 years to the production of great wines, with the constant aim of being the most prestigious Tuscan producer. A reality that has always believed in respecting the territory, focuses on the excellence of its grapes, invests in communication and the professionalism of human resources without ever forgetting the respect for tradition and openness to research and experimentation. In 1855, as the first in Tuscany, they planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay in the estates of Nipozzano and Pomino. In 1894, they built in Pomino, a location not far from Florence, the first Italian winery capable of using natural gravity for transferring from barrels and distinguished themselves during the same period for the introduction of the “specialized vineyard.” In 1989, they acquired the Castelgiocondo estate in Montalcino and in 1995 inaugurated the Tenuta Luce della Vite in Montalcino, which was joined in 2000 by the Tenuta Conti Attems in Friuli. Recent bright projects include the control of the Tenuta dell’Ornellaia in Bolgheri in 2005, and in 2011 the inauguration of the modern winery of Ammiraglia in Maremma. All wines labeled “Marchesi Frescobaldi” arise from passion, experience, skill, and love for a chosen territory, Tuscany, which has become the ideal cradle of high-quality wines. With a vineyard area that currently totals nearly a thousand hectares and an annual production of around seven million bottles, from the Chianti area to Pomino, from Montalcino to Maremma, the perfect knowledge of the environment and the uniqueness of the terroirs ensure constant quality and a distinctive personality of the wines, all - without exception - exceptional. The labels of the “Marchesi Frescobaldi” are elegant and harmonious, balanced and engaging, exciting and unique.
