The Picolit by Livio Felluga is a prestigious meditation wine. It is the noblest wine of Friuli, whose uniqueness comes from the grape variety, which, through a partial fertilization of the flower, results in the growth of very few and highly concentrated berries for each bunch. The healthy and perfectly ripe grapes are hand-picked according to ripeness, in small crates, to preserve the integrity of the berry. The fermentation on the lees in small French oak barrels lasts several months, enhancing its savoriness, creaminess, and aging potential. A complex wine, with an ancient gold color, harmonizes sweet and tart sensations, releasing an enveloping aroma of candied fruit, vanilla, and wildflowers. It is also worth trying with flavorful cheeses, foie gras, or dry pastries.

THE COMPANY
A unique name in the Italian production landscape, as well as a symbol of a region and its wines, it is easy to see how the story of Livio Felluga intertwines with that of an entire territory. This story features a family that survived two world wars, witnessing the changing borders around them, and then deciding to settle on the gentle slopes of the Friuli hills. It is here, not far from Cormòns in the province of Gorizia, that Livio Felluga had to embark on a new battle to revive the hill, convinced that only the rebirth of quality cultivation could bring life back to the Friulian countryside. With great courage, he began to restore the old vineyards and plant new ones, introducing innovative ideas and methods. A hard work, marked by determination and passion, which over the years would lead him to create one of the most beautiful and significant business realities in the Peninsula, fully earning the title unanimously recognized as the refounder of Friulian winemaking tradition.
Currently, the company has a vast vineyard area, covering about 155 hectares, from the Collio denomination to the Colli Orientali del Friuli. In the vineyard, the varieties encountered are both indigenous and international, including friulano and pinot bianco, chardonnay and ribolla gialla, sauvignon blanc and pinot grigio, picolit and refosco, pignolo and merlot. Grapes that are transformed into what are now known as the “map wines,” always depicted on the label and representing an old map of the company’s estates.
And so, here come to life the “Vertigo,” the “Nuaré,” and the “Sharis,” followed by all the others, culminating in the “Terre Alte”: wines born from a winery that still shines today for the quality and the territorial character it manages to express, a true ambassador of the best Friulian whites - and therefore Italian - around the world.
