Egly-Ouriet

In the heart of the Champagne region, in France, the winery Egly-Ouriet stands out as one of the brightest excellences among récoltant-manipulant. Here, tradition meets craftsmanship, producing Champagnes that not only celebrate the beauty of the terroir but venture beyond the boundaries of the conventional, reaching for the peaks of oenological refinement.
The vineyards of Egly-Ouriet stretch across limestone soils that enhance the minerality of the cultivated grapes, primarily Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. These varieties, nurtured with dedication and an environmentally respectful approach, become the protagonists of an oenological tale that speaks of elegance and depth. The winery is renowned for its Brut Grand Cru, a wine that embodies the perfect balance between freshness and complexity, often compared to the great white wines of Burgundy for its structure and aromatic richness.
Every bottle signed by Egly-Ouriet is an invitation to discover a universe of flavors that range from citrus and floral notes to more complex hints of dried fruit and spices, providing a tasting experience that is both gastronomic and enveloping.

THE WINE

THE MAISON
Egly-Ouriet, a family domaine whose history has reached the fourth generation, is located in Ambonnay, a Grand Cru village in the heart of the Montagne de Reims and the kingdom of pinot noir. The owned vineyards, approximately 11.5 hectares, are all between 40 and 60 years old: of the total, only 4 hectares are not planted with pinot noir grapes, but with chardonnay and pinot meunier (2 hectares each). In addition to the vineyards in Ambonnay, Egly-Ouriet owns land in Bouzy, Verzenay (both Grand Cru villages of the Montagne de Reims) and Vrigny, a Premier Cru vineyard of 2 hectares from which a pure pinot meunier champagne is produced. Egly-Ouriet is now in the hands of Francis Egly, a winemaker of great talent and sensitivity, who has been able to create champagnes of great territorial expressiveness: six labels in total, in addition to a Coteaux Champenois (a rare red wine from the area). The management of the vineyard and cellar follows natural criteria and traditional methods, with the utmost respect for the land and minimal human intervention.
