I was born in Cagliari.
Nasco di Cagliari is a wine that embodies the essence of Sardinia, a land kissed by the sun and caressed by sea breezes. This white wine has its roots in the millennial history of the island, where viticulture has been practiced since Phoenician times. The name "Nasco" comes from the Latin "muscus," meaning moss, a nod to the characteristic aromas that this wine offers.
Produced mainly in the province of Cagliari, Nasco di Cagliari is made from Nasco grapes, an indigenous Sardinian variety known for its ability to adapt to the island's climatic conditions. The grapes are grown on calcareous and clay soils, which give the wine a distinctive minerality. Harvesting usually takes place at the end of September when the grapes have reached perfect ripeness.
In the production of Nasco di Cagliari, the grapes undergo a gentle pressing and fermentation at controlled temperatures to preserve the freshness and aromatic integrity of the wine. Some producers choose to age the wine in steel, while others opt for a brief passage in wood to add complexity and structure.
Nasco di Cagliari presents a bright straw yellow color and an olfactory profile that enchants the senses. On the nose, notes of white flowers, yellow-fleshed fruits like peach and apricot, and a characteristic scent of moss and Mediterranean scrub can be detected. On the palate, the wine is smooth and enveloping, with a pleasant savoriness and a long, persistent finish that recalls its fruity and floral notes.
This wine pairs well with a variety of dishes, thanks to its versatility and balanced structure. It is perfect with seafood appetizers, fresh cheeses, fish and shellfish dishes, but also with white meat dishes and delicate first courses. Served chilled, it is an ideal companion for summer aperitifs and outdoor dinners.
Nasco di Cagliari is a wine that deserves to be discovered and appreciated, an authentic expression of Sardinian winemaking culture. On Vino45, you will find a curated selection of the best Nasco di Cagliari, ready to surprise you with their elegance and complexity. Let yourself be carried away by the charm of this unique wine and experience a sensory journey that will take you directly to the heart of Sardinia.
