Among the many spirits, Vodka certainly plays an important role, both for its historical roots and for its ability to establish itself today as a reference spirit in the main cocktail bars and clubs around the world. Vodka is primarily obtained through the distillation of grains, but it can also be derived from potatoes, molasses, or other plants; its origin dates back to around the 1300s, and its parentage has always been contested between Poland and Russia, two countries where traces of it can be found from time immemorial.
When it comes to Vodka, one of the universally recognized brands, both by great enthusiasts and casual drinkers, is undoubtedly Absolut, a distillery founded in Ahus, a small medieval village located in the county of Scania, Sweden. Sweden is indeed a nation that, despite not being traditionally linked to Vodka production, has in recent years managed to assert itself in the market, becoming a true point of reference for this spirit. And it is Absolut that drives this rise, thanks also to the chosen production philosophy: every bottle is made only and strictly from local products, starting from the hard wheat, cultivated in the fields not far from the distillery, to the water used in the various processes, sourced from a local well owned by the distillery. Twenty-two types of Vodka are produced in Ahus, still following the traditional recipe introduced in 1879 by Lars Olsson Smith, which involved the use of continuous distillation.
Alongside the great classics and bottles flavored with fruit essences - "Raspberry," "Cedar," and "Grape" are simply phenomenal - perfect for mixing in the trendiest drinks, you can also find more niche products, like "100" and "Elyx," intended for a true connoisseur audience.
