Groppello

Groppello is a rare native grape variety from Lombardy, grown mainly in the Valtenesi area on the western shore of Lake Garda. Its name comes from "groppo", meaning knot, referring to the tight, compact shape of its grape clusters. It is used to produce light red wines and elegant rosés (like the renowned Chiaretto). The grapes are hand-harvested and vinified at controlled temperatures to preserve their delicate aromas. The resulting wines are fresh, smooth, and refined, with notes of red berries, white pepper, and almond.

Groppello is also part of the Vino45 selection, which highlights sustainable, characterful grape varieties. It offers a genuine taste of Italian terroir, craftsmanship, and biodiversity — a hidden gem for wine lovers seeking authenticity.
