pinotage
Pinotage is a unique wine, a true celebration of South African viticulture. Born from ingenuity and experimentation, this wine tells a fascinating story that dates back to the 1920s. It was during this period that Professor Abraham Perold, a pioneer of viticulture at the University of Stellenbosch, created a new cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault (then known as Hermitage), two varieties that combine to create a wine with unmistakable characteristics.
Pinotage is often associated with red wines, but its versatile personality is also magnificently expressed in its rosé version. The Pinotage grapes destined for this type of wine are harvested early to preserve freshness and acidity, key elements for a quality rosé. After pressing, the must is left in contact with the skins for a short period, just long enough to obtain the delicate pink hue that characterizes this wine.
Mainly produced in the fertile lands of South Africa, Pinotage rosé offers an organoleptic profile that seduces the senses. On the nose, it presents a bouquet of vibrant aromas ranging from red fruits, such as wild strawberries and cherries, to floral notes reminiscent of rose and jasmine. On the palate, it stands out for its freshness and liveliness, with a well-balanced acidity that enhances the fruity flavors and a slight spicy aftertaste that adds complexity and charm.
This light-bodied and elegantly structured rosé is perfect for enjoying on a warm summer day or for accompanying light and fresh dishes. Try it with seafood salads, grilled fish dishes, or sushi, and let yourself be won over by its versatility and distinctive character.
Choosing a Pinotage rosé means choosing a wine that tells a story of innovation and tradition, a wine that represents the vibrant soul of South Africa.
