Ruche'
In the beating heart of Piedmont, among the gentle hills of Monferrato, lies an oenological gem with a unique and unmistakable character: Ruchè. This red wine has its roots in an ancient and fascinating history, shrouded in an aura of mystery that makes it even more alluring for enthusiasts. Ruchè is one of the most distinctive wines of the region, with production limited to a few municipalities, a rarity that increases its charm and exclusivity.
The Ruchè grape variety, from which this wine takes its name, is an indigenous grape of Piedmont, whose exact origin remains uncertain. However, it is believed that it may have been imported by Cistercian monks in the Middle Ages, bringing with it a legacy of passion and dedication to viticulture. Today, Ruchè is primarily cultivated around Castagnole Monferrato, where the climatic conditions and calcareous-clay soil provide an ideal habitat for the maturation of these grapes.
The production of Ruchè follows traditional methods that respect the nature and identity of the grape variety. After a manual harvest of the grapes, the winemaking process involves controlled temperature fermentation and aging in steel or wooden barrels, depending on the style desired by the producer. This allows for the preservation of the freshness and aromaticity typical of Ruchè, highlighting its unique peculiarities.
From an organoleptic point of view, Ruchè presents itself with an intense ruby red color, sometimes with violet hues. On the nose, it offers a complex and captivating aromatic bouquet, characterized by floral notes of rose and violet, enriched by fruity hints of cherry and strawberry. On tasting, Ruchè impresses with its elegance and softness, with a medium body and well-integrated tannins that provide a pleasant structure. The finish is long and persistent, with a delicate spicy aftertaste that invites a second sip.
Ruchè is a versatile and intriguing wine, suitable for multiple gastronomic pairings. Thanks to its freshness and aromaticity, it is perfect for accompanying traditional Piedmontese dishes, such as roast rabbit or mushroom risotto, but also pairs wonderfully with aged cheeses and quality cured meats.
