Immersed in the picturesque hills of Piedmont, the Braida winery is a true tribute to Italian wine culture, capable of transforming Barbera into a liquid work of art. Thanks to a visionary approach and the visceral passion of its founders, Braida has been able to revolutionize the image of this grape variety, enhancing its ability to create wines of extraordinary personality and complexity. The beating heart of the winery lies in the DOCG Barbera d’Asti, an emblem of a territory rich in history and tradition.
The journey into the world of Braida begins among the rows of Barbera, where the grapes are cultivated with an almost sacred respect for the land and its ancient traditions. Each bunch is the expression of a unique terroir, and the winery's production philosophy is based on a balance between innovation and the preservation of ancient values. In the winery, winemaking techniques embrace modernity without ever betraying the essence of the past, creating wines that tell stories of time and place.
Among the labels that proudly bear the name Braida, Bricco dell’Uccellone stands out as an oenological masterpiece. This wine, endowed with great character and structure, is a perfect example of how Barbera can evolve and mature, reaching heights of elegance and aromatic complexity. On the palate, Bricco dell’Uccellone offers an enveloping sensory experience, with fruity and spicy notes that dance harmoniously.

THE COMPANY
No other winery embodies a grape variety like Braida does with barbera. The work that Giacomo Bologna has carried out over the past decades is unparalleled, and it has paved the way for an entire generation of winemakers who, after him, began to work confidently with this previously underappreciated variety. It can be said that it was Giacomo Bologna, with the “Bricco dell’Uccellone” and other wines that have made history in Italian oenology, who transformed the common beliefs about barbera. By studying soils and exposures, waiting for complete ripening, and working it to the best in the cellar, Giacomo Bologna was able to demonstrate the quality, finesse, and especially the longevity that could be achieved by vinifying barbera grapes.
Today, the company faithfully represents Giacomo's philosophy, his way of understanding life, the land, wine, and relationships with friends. His children Raffaella and Giuseppe, both oenologists, represent the third generation of the “Braida”, and they are united by the dream and enthusiasm to continue the pursuit of nobility and quality for Barbera that their father started.
With over sixty hectares of vineyards, the company has its rows mainly located in the lands of Rocchetta Tanaro, to which over the years have been added plots in Castelnuovo Calcea, Costiglione d’Asti, Mango d’Alba, and Trezzo Tinella. Grapes grown and harvested in areas highly suited to viticulture are processed in the cellar using the most modern and refined winemaking technologies, always employed in full respect of the oldest traditions.
Thus, for years, the Braida family has been synonymous with Italian drinking in the world, thanks to labels that, in addition to “Bricco dell’Uccellone,” are expressed in names such as “Montebruna,” “La Monella,” “Il Baciale,” “Bricco della Bigotta,” and all the others that follow. Wines born under the sign of the resurgence of barbera, and today a symbol of the highest oenological excellence of Piemonte and Italy.
