The Haut-Médoc AOC Cru Bourgeois Château Magnol 2019 by Barton & Guestier comes from near Bordeaux, on the left bank of the Gironde, from a 31-hectare vineyard with low yields, hand-harvested with minimal interference in natural ripening. 12 months of aging in oak barrels (30% new) give elegance and depth. Winner of numerous awards, it shows a rich bouquet of black fruits like blackcurrant and morello cherry, spices, sage, and a menthol note. The palate is harmonious, full-bodied, and persistent, with fine tannins and a long finish recalling vanilla, licorice, and spices, ideal with red meat, game, and aged cheeses.

THE COMPANY
It was in 1725 that the Irishman Thomas Barton settled in Bordeaux to start his business, which is now the oldest winery in the city still in operation... His grandson Hugh collaborated with the Frenchman Daniel Guestier, and in 1802 their partnership became official. From the Chartrons area, in the center of Bordeaux, barrels and bottles were loaded onto ships that sailed along the Garonne River to numerous countries, starting with Ireland, England, the Netherlands, and the United States, now reaching over 130 countries.
