The Barolo ‘Margheria’ by Massolino originates from the eponymous cru in Serralunga d’Alba, on calcareous-clay soils rich in mineral substances, which give depth and structure to the wine. The Nebbiolo grapes, coming from historic vineyards, are hand-picked, vinified with slow fermentation and long maceration on the skins, to best extract aromas and tannins. The aging occurs for 30 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by at least 12 months in bottle, to ensure balance and complexity. On the nose, notes of ripe cherry, tobacco, sweet spices, and licorice emerge, while the palate is broad, enveloping, with dense yet elegant tannins and a long and balsamic finish. A wine of great longevity, ideal with braised dishes, game, roasts, and aged cheeses.

THE COMPANY
The history of the winery Massolino began in 1896, the year Giovanni founded the company in Serralunga d'Alba. The first proper winery, however, was built by Giuseppe, Giovanni's son, who, along with his sister Angela, expanded the property by annexing other lands and in 1934 founded the Consortium for the protection of Barolo and Barbaresco. Giovanni, Camilla, and Renato, three of Giuseppe's children, brought the company to a turning point, thanks to the purchase of crus that are now true legends among enthusiasts: Vigna Rionda, Margheria, and Parafada.
Today, the company is led by brothers Franco and Roberto Massolino, aided by their uncle Renato and Giovanni Angeli. Their work condenses the experience of an entire generation and the ambition of those who know they must honor a historic winery and a unique terroir, that of Serralunga d'Alba. In this picturesque medieval village, situated on one of the beautiful hills of the Langhe, in the heart of the Barolo production area, the life of the winery Massolino thrives, now an essential national reference point for the production of high-quality wines.
