The Champagne Brut 'La Grande Dame' by Veuve Clicquot is the undisputed symbol of the prestigious winery of Montagne de Reims. It is a unique champagne, and it's no coincidence that in the last 50 years only 18 cuvées have been produced. It is made only in the best vintages chosen by the chef de cave and is obtained from 8% Chardonnay and 92% Pinot Noir, harvested and blended from the vineyards of six Grands Cru villages. The elegance and finesse of Pinot Noir skillfully combined with the softness and strength of Chardonnay. Aged for nearly 10 years in chalk cellars, a UNESCO heritage site. Harmony of aromas and subtle floral notes. Perfectly balanced, a synthesis of strength and class, without neglecting a pleasant freshness.

THE WINE
The Champagne Brut 'La Grande Dame' by Veuve Clicquot is the undisputed symbol of the prestigious winery in the Montagne de Reims. It is a unique champagne, and it is no coincidence that in the last 50 years only 18 cuvées have been produced. It is made only in the best years selected by the chef de cave and is obtained from 8% Chardonnay and 92% Pinot Noir, harvested and blended from the vineyards of six Grands Cru villages. The elegance and finesse of Pinot Noir are expertly combined with the softness and strength of Chardonnay. It is aged for almost 10 years in chalk cellars, a UNESCO heritage site. Harmony of aromas and subtle floral touches. Perfectly balanced, a synthesis of strength and class, without neglecting a pleasant freshness.
THE MAISON

It all began in 1772 when Philippe Clicquot, a businessman and landowner, founded “un négoce de vin à l’enseigne Clicquot.” A small operation that aspired to cross borders to make the new name of Champagne known to the whole world. In 1798, François Clicquot, son of the founder of the Maison, married Barbe Nicole Ponsardin. It would be she who, after inheriting her husband’s passion and expertise for the production and marketing of Champagne, would manage to grow the business to become one of the most famous and renowned Maisons not only in the Reims area but throughout the Champagne region. Barbe Nicole Ponsardin, in fact, became a widow at only twenty-seven, and after her husband’s death, she took the reins of the company firmly, becoming one of the first great female entrepreneurs in modern history, known to all by the nickname “the widow Clicquot,” or “Veuve Clicquot,” from which the name of the Maison itself is derived.
Under the guidance of the young widow, several insights emerged that benefited the entire denomination. From the first vintage Champagne, that of 1810, to the perfection of the riddling technique, and the development of the liqueur de tirage used for the second fermentation in the bottle, there is no aspect that she did not personally oversee.
Not to mention her great commercial skills, which allowed Barbe Nicole Ponsardin in 1814 to overcome the continental blockade that immobilized Europe in trade, bringing her Champagne directly to Russia, to San Petersburg, with what is now known as the “cuvée Saint Petersbourg.”
In short, a story of excellence that currently, under the sign of the luxury group LVMH, which has owned the Maison since 1986, continues with Champagne of unique personality, always recognizable for their immediate elegance and extraordinary refinement.
