The Barolo Ginestra 'Pajana' by Domenico Clerico originates from a clayey soil, with vines planted in '71 and '91. The vineyards have an ideal exposure, and the production of this wine amounts to 5000 bottles, roughly counted. It rests for 16 months in French barriques and then continues its evolution for another 16 months in 50 hl barrels under the strict supervision of Domenico Clerico. This journey will see its conclusion only after a further aging in bottle lasting two years.

Domenico Clerico

In the heart of the Langhe, an enchanting territory where the hills seem to dance under the Piedmontese sky, stands the winery Domenico Clerico, one of the brightest gems of the Italian wine scene. Its history is deeply intertwined with the modern evolution of Barolo, a wine that has redefined itself, imprinting its name in the firmament of great Italian reds.
Domenico Clerico was a visionary pioneer, capable of looking beyond the horizon, embracing a modernist approach that revolutionized the way to conceive and produce Barolo. His creations are powerful, concentrated, and endowed with extraordinary longevity, characteristics that fully reflect his production philosophy. The plots of Nebbiolo, the noble grape par excellence of the Langhe, intertwine with those of Dolcetto, giving life to wines that tell stories of passion, land, and innovation.
Among the most celebrated labels of Clerico, the Barolo Ciabot Mentin stands out for its complexity and aromatic depth. This wine is a sensory journey that unfolds through notes of ripe fruit, spices, and memories of wet earth, evolving over time with grace and character. Each sip is a tribute to the mastery of a man who has been able to interpret the terroir of the Langhe with boldness and respect, creating a dialogue between tradition and modernity.
Let yourself be captivated by the wines of Domenico Clerico, available on Vino45, and immerse yourself in an experience that celebrates the history and innovation of Barolo, a wine story that never ceases to fascinate.

THE WINE
The Barolo Ginestra 'Pajana' by Domenico Clerico originates from a clayey soil, with vines planted in '71 and '91, the vineyards have an ideal exposure and the production of this wine amounts to about 5000 bottles at best. It rests for 16 months in French barriques and then continues its evolution for another 16 months in 50 hl barrels under the strict supervision of Domenico Clerico. A process that will only conclude after a further two years of bottle aging.
THE COMPANY
Around the mid-1970s, in 1976 to be exact, Domenico Clerico, at his father's request, chose to take the reins of the family farm, which at the time extended over an area of about five hectares and produced grapes to be delivered to the nearby social winery. However, seeing the meager profits and at the same time convinced of the enormous potential of the lands of Langhe, Domenico, assisted by his wife Giuliana in managing the estate, decided to start vinifying his own grapes to produce quality wines.
With love and dedication, he began to care for his vines, trying to interpret their every need at every moment of the year. Meanwhile, Domenico purchased new well-positioned vineyard plots, in the heart of Bussia, in the Ginestra cru and in the Mosconi cru, choosing lands characterized by optimal microclimatic conditions.
Today, Domenico Clerico's winery has 21 hectares of vineyards, located in some of the best subzones of Barolo in Monforte d’Alba and Serralunga d’Alba. At an altitude ranging from 150 to 450 meters above sea level, carefully and wisely managing his rows, with the utmost respect for the environment, nature, biodiversity, and the ecosystem, he collects pure and precious grapes, which translate into labels with a thousand facets, olfactorily seductive and gustatively complex.
Thus, hard work, sweat, and determination have given rise to what can currently be considered a vibrant and dynamic wine reality, undoubtedly among the most representative wineries of Monforte d’Alba. The company of Domenico Clerico best interprets the nebbiolo grape, producing wines overwhelming in olfactory sensations, noble on the palate, and endless in persistence. From the Barolo “Pajana” to the Barolo “Aeroplanservaj”, from the Barolo “Ciabot Mentin” to the Barolo “Percristina”, without forgetting the Barbera and Dolcetto: simply extraordinary wines.
