The Toscana Rosso 'Lux Vitis' by Tenuta Luce is a red wine with a Mediterranean character, rich and complex. It all originates from a Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard planted in Montalcino in 2004 on sandy mixed soils. Thanks to the exceptional quality of their grapes, Frescobaldi decided to produce an exclusive wine that can interpret the terroir of Tenuta Luce through Cabernet Sauvignon. A small portion of Sangiovese grapes was added to enrich its character. The long aging in new French oak barriques for 24 months further enhanced its elegance. THE COMPANY
Tenuta Luce is located southwest of Montalcino in the heart of the Val d'Orcia Natural Park, a rural landscape skillfully and aesthetically redesigned by man during the pre-Renaissance period and recognized in 2004 as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. It is in this extraordinary land, historically known for its high-quality wines, that the 249 hectares of Tenuta Luce are found. This pristine and sparsely populated environment is rich in biodiversity and includes a large forested area, olive trees, and 88 hectares of vineyards. The philosophy of Tenuta Luce is based on the idea that wine should be as natural an expression of the place where it is produced as possible, as well as reflecting the specific characteristics of each grape variety, thus achieving a perfect balance between grape and terroir. Human intervention is quite limited and always non-invasive, aiming to protect this natural harmony. The wines of Tenuta Luce were born in the early 1990s from this unique terroir and philosophy through the meeting of two great wine figures, Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi. After choosing Montalcino, they combined their knowledge to distinctly pursue the potential of this terroir so suited to winemaking. Since 2004, when the partnership with Mondavi concluded, Lamberto Frescobaldi has been leading the Tenuta Luce project, supported by a dedicated team committed to perpetuating this vision.
