List of products by brand Gerard Bertand
It was way back in 1975, among the vineyards of Chateau de Villemajou in the heart of the Corbières AOC, that Gérard Bertrand harvested his first grapes and discovered his passion for wine. From there she perfected her knowledge of him by working alongside his father, Georges Bertrand, for 12 years. Strongly linked to the values of excellence, matured in his initial career as a professional rugby player, today Gérard continues in his mission to enhance the best terroirs of the South of France. What was initially a small family estate transformed into the most important producer in the region under his leadership. Domaine de Cigalus was added to the initial Chateau Villemajou estate in the 1990s and Chateau Hospitalet in 2002, in the heart of the La Clape natural park. Today Gérard Bertrand has 11 Chateaus and produces all the main appellations of South-West France. Furthermore, it has been among the most important producers of organic and biodynamic wines in the nation for years. Gérard is convinced of the importance of organic, bio-sustainable and biodynamic agriculture. Already in 2002 he began the conversion of Domaine de Cigalus, the company where he lives, to biodynamic agriculture. For Bertrand, organic and biodynamic viticulture strengthens the bond with the environment allowing the maximum expression of the terroir in the wines. A difficult and intense job that today the group carries out in various Chateaus including Cigalus, Hospitalet, Clos d'Ora, Sauvageonne and Clos du Temple. In addition to producing some of the region's most important red wines, the company has invested significantly in the development of important rosé wines. Gérard Bertrand today produces some of the best-selling rosé wines in the world.
