THE WINE

The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 'Poggio all’Oro' from Castello Banfi is the family jewel, a Reserve produced exclusively in great vintages with selected grapes from the vineyard 'Poggio all’Oro', where Sangiovese finds its ideal conditions to grow. Aged for 5 years, just under 3 of which in French oak barrels, it has an elegant structure, great dimensions, with very soft and balanced tannins. Suitable for long aging.
THE COMPANY

Banfi was founded in 1978 thanks to the will of Italian-American brothers John and Harry Mariani. From the very beginning, the two brothers envisioned a large-scale project, integrating quality winemaking with a modern winery with the goal of consistently maintaining high quality levels in the wines produced. Beside the Mariani family was Ezio Rivella, one of the greatest Italian winemakers, who immediately believed that due to the richness of the soil and the privileged microclimatic position, the acquired territories would have great development potential. In those years, brothers John and Harry also acquired the historic Piedmontese winery Bruzzone, active since 1860 and specialized in the production of sparkling wines, to make it the Piedmontese brand of the group, today Banfi Piemonte.
