THE COMPANY

The "Masseto" comes from a single vineyard: only six hectares, where passion and dedication are combined with talent and skill, to give life to the highest excellence, the result of obsession with every little detail , and daughter of a terroir so dedicated to the cultivation of the vine. Then the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, the flagship of what is the Bordeaux cut par excellence, the undisputed queen of the Bolgheri area. Two brands, now famous all over the world: two absolute "must", conceived on parallel but currently very distinct roads, which for years have been traveling independently, towards a future that looks more than rosy. A rosy future, but at the same time a past that for about two decades has traveled inextricably on the same track. It was in fact in 1981 that the Marquis Lodovico Antinori, cousin of Piero Antinori, founded the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, in the heart of the Bolgheri area. With the first vintage of 1985, what became an icon among the SuperTuscan was born: the Ornellaia, put on the market three years later, in 1988. After the inauguration of the winery, the world-renowned winemaker - Michel Rolland - starts to take care of the technical part of the cellar. In the 90s the other two labels, "Le Volte" and "Le Serre Nuove" were born. At the beginning of 2000, Robert Mondavi, the great Californian producer, acquired the Estate, selling 50% to the Marchesi de 'Frescobaldi, who will buy the other 50% only three years later. The end of the 2000s also saw the birth of the "Poggio alle Gazze" label and the highly selected late harvest wine "Ornus", from petit manseng in purity. A mythical cellar, which wrote the story of Bolgheri.
