PRODUCTION AREA

Over 170 hectares of estate vineyards in the southern hill area of Montalcino. Altitude: 220 meters above sea level. Position: Hillside.

GRAPE VARIETIES

100% Sangiovese.

METHOD OF PRODUCTION

The grapes are vinified with a brief maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for approximately 12-14 days. Once the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are completed, the wine is aged for 10 months in oak barrels, completing its evolution with an appropriate bottle aging.

THE WINEMAKER COMMENT

The great Banfi experience for an elegant wine, of great structure and concentration, with excellent aging potentials.

SEASONAL OUTCOME

Growing Conditions: The growing cycle began with a significant delay, with some rains during the Spring. June was marked by cooler temperatures, under the seasonal average. August and September were hot and dry, but the ripening, despite two weeks delay, have been supported by water reserves of the previous months. Summer nights were characterized by cooler temperatures, contributing to the improvement of the quality of the grapes. From the end of September, rainfall was abundant, causing problems during the repining, without affecting the vineyards.

TASTING

The color is red and deep. The aromas are complex and characterized by hints of currant, blueberry, plum jam together with pleasant complex notes of tobacco and licorice. The structure is strong and full, but at the same time it reveals softness and maturity. Thanks to sweet and elegant tannins, it results very persistent in the finish. Aging potential is considerable.
