Planeta and 'a trip to Sicily from west to east, that proceeds from Sambuca di Sicilia and Menfi as far as Vittoria, Noto and Etna. The stages of the "Journey" are the five wineries that Planeta has built within its own vineyards. Five boutique wineries', each inspired by the particular requirements of the Ulmo at Sambuca di Sicilia, the Cantina Piccola and Cantina Grande at Memphis, Dorilli in Vittoria, Buonivini in Noto; and soon it will join 'the sixth, Sciara Nuova on Etna. These are the places of Planeta winery that was founded in 1995 but has had a winemaking tradition handed down for 17 generations, and from the sixteenth century. A trip around Sicily and its greatest wines, a project aimed as much to the past as to the future. In this direction, the guideline of the project and 'extremely rigorous: to exalt the characteristics of these great vines cultivating them exclusively in their respective selected areas. Cerasuolo di Vittoria by Planeta is made in the beautiful countryside of Dorilli, between the sea and the Iblei mountains. The name of the only DOCG in Sicily is derived from “Cerasa”, cherry in Sicilian dialect. It is produced from the indigenous varieties Nero d’Avola and Frappato. A unique wine, recognisable and unforgettable for its youthful flavours and aromas of cherry, strawberry and pomegranate, due to the characteristics of the soil and the climate where the vines are cultivated.A wine like few others, uniting tradition and delight.
'Etna Bianco' by Planeta is made in the winery of Feudo di Mezzo, located in the heart of the Etnea viticulture. From Carricante grapes partially fermented in barriques, in search of a current expression of this noble vine cultivated in the splendid and unique terroir of the Etna. On the palate it is juicy and full with notes of yellow plums and prickly pears.
'Etna Rosso' by Planeta is produced at Feudo di Mezzo winery, situated in the heart of Etna viticulture. It comes from Nerello Mascalese grapes, and from the search for a modern expression of this noble grape variety cultivated in the unique and splendid terroir of Etna. Champion of red wine with a marked flavor, to drink at the table every day.
The Extra Virgin Olive Oil DOP 'Val di Mazara' by Planeta is a fruity, sharp, spicy and intense oil, which comes from the cold pressing of whole olives of Nocellara del Belice, Biancolilla and Cerasuola, combined in blend. excellent on vegetable and legume soups, fresh cheeses and above all fish and grilled meats.

'Santa Cecilia' by Planeta is the flagship wine from the most important Sicilian variety: Nero d’Avola. It comes from a long search for the best place to make a great wine with this variety. The origin of this variety, where the DOC Noto insists, is at the southern end of Sicily. With its white lands and ancient vines it is the epicenter of Nero d'Avola cultivation. A wine that is an expression of elegance, power, balance and exaltation of the unique scents of the Sicilian lands, and today finally a reference point for the reds of native Sicilian grapes. Its name derives from that of our family: Planeta di Santa Cecilia.
The Menfi DOC 'Cometa' by Planeta grows in the Gurra and Dispensa vineyards, located in the municipality of Menfi, in the province of Agrigento. Pure Fiano from calcareous-clay soils that contribute to enhance the aromatic markers of the Mediterranean maquis of this vine. White with a silky tactile sensation and a very refined aftertaste.
'Sito dell’Ulmo' by Planeta is a pure Merlot and for some years also a Single Vineyard that comes from the vineyards on the shores of Lake Arancio. A red wine left to mature for over a year in barriques of great richness and power. Soft and elegant, of great longevity, it is an extraordinary expression of this noble grape.
Nerello Mascalese 'Eruzione 1614' by Planeta bears a strongly evocative name for the Etna Cru based on Nerello Mascalese: the legendary eruption of 1614, which lasted 10 years, the longest of all time, stopped at the border of the vineyards of Sciaranuova. Black earth in altitude gives an elegant, fine and balanced style. Great.
Syrah 'Maroccoli' by Planeta comes from an extraordinary vineyard - Maroccoli about 400 mt s.l.m. in an uncontaminated place - interpretation of Syrah, noble Mediterranean vine, in a modern key and respectful of the characteristics of the vine. Matures 12 months in Allier oak barriques. Imposing and impenetrable, it is a wine destined for long aging.

Riesling 'Eruzione 1614' by Planeta represents the first riesling produced on Etna and in the whole Sicily. The bunches come from vineyards placed at an altitude of 850 meters s.l.m. that sink their roots into the volcanic soil. a small vineyard of Riesling. An extraordinary variety that loves altitude and lava lands. A very interesting white, something new to try.
