Champagne Brut 'Les Premices' (750 ml.) - Egly-Ouriet
Champagne Brut 'Les Premices' by Egly Ouriet is obtained from an equal blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, from old vines aged over 40 years, located in the village of Trigny in the mountains of Reims. No chemical or synthetic substances are used in the vineyard, while in the cellar all the fermentations of the base wines take place spontaneously, with aging on the lees for at least 36 months and a dosage of 2 g / l. Champagne with an elegant, deep and silky body, vibrant freshness and savory contours, with notes of white flowers, citrus fruits, mineral textures and saline thrust, memories of bread crust. Large, refined and gentle, a bottle for all occasions.
THE WINE
Champagne Brut Grand Cru by Egly-Ouriet comes only from the Grand Cru vineyards of Ambonnay, it follows a spontaneous fermentation without added yeasts and exclusively in wood. Blending of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay of which about 50% of reserve wine. The first élevage on the lees lasts about a year. Bottling without filtration. It is a champagne with a fruity bouquet and great freshness. Harmonious and strongly expressive of the terroir.
THE COMPANY
Egly-Ouriet, family domaine whose history is now in its fourth generation, rises in Ambonnay, a Grand Cru commune in the heart of the Reims Mountain and the kingdom of Pinot Noir. The vineyards, about 11.5 hectares, all have between 40 and 60 years of age: of the total, only 4 hectares are not planted with Pinot Noir grapes, but with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grapes (2 hectares each). In addition to the vineyards located in Ambonnay, Egly-Ouriet owns land in Bouzy, Verzenay (both municipalities Grand Cru of the Mountain of Reims) and Vrigny, the 2-hectare Premier Cru vineyard from which a pure pinot meunier champagne is born. Egly-Ouriet is today in the hands of Francis Egly, vigneron of vast talent and sensitivity, who has been able to develop champagnes of great territorial expression: six labels in total, in addition to a Coteaux Champenois (rare red wine of the area). The management of the vineyard and the cellar follows natural criteria and traditional methods, with the utmost respect for the land and with the minimum human intervention.
