Lugana Superiore DOP 'Madonna della Scoperta' 2019 (750 ml.) Perla del Garda

Lugana Superiore DOP 'Madonna della Scoperta' 2019 by Perla del Garda is a structured and elegant white wine, made from carefully selected 100% Turbiana grapes grown on the moraine hills south of Lake Garda. The vineyards are located near the historic Madonna della Scoperta sanctuary, an area known for its clay-limestone soils. The production process includes gentle pressing, fermentation at controlled temperatures, and 18 months of aging, partly in stainless steel and partly in oak tonneaux, to enhance structure and complexity. This is followed by further refinement in the bottle. In the glass, it shows a golden yellow hue. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe fruit, candied citrus, sweet spices, and mineral notes. The palate is rich and savory, with excellent persistence and a refined finish. Perfect with flavorful fish dishes, white meats, or aged cheeses.

Perla del Garda

In the gentle morainic hills near Lake Garda, one of Lombardy’s most captivating wineries is born: Perla del Garda. A family-run estate rooted in the land of Lonato del Garda, it seamlessly blends tradition, sustainability, and modern winemaking.

Perla del Garda is a name that stands for exceptional quality wines, made exclusively from estate-grown grapes and vinified using vertical gravity—a unique technique in Italy. The result? Clean, elegant, and structured wines that faithfully express the identity of the Garda terroir.

The flagship wine is the Lugana DOC, crafted from carefully handpicked Turbiana grapes. Its freshness, minerality, and aging potential make it one of the finest examples of the appellation. The portfolio also includes refined Metodo Classicosparkling wines, the bold Rinascimento Rosso, amphora-aged gems, and vineyard-specific cru selections.

Color: bright golden yellow, with intense reflections, indicative of good evolution in the bottle and careful refinement. The visual density suggests structure and maturity.

Bouquet: rich and layered aromatic profile: it opens with notes of ripe yellow-fleshed fruit - peach, apricot and melon - followed by candied citrus scents and hints of aromatic herbs. Then emerge scents of withered flowers, acacia honey and almond, with light mineral and spicy nuances that testify to the evolution of the wine over time.

Taste: full and enveloping, supported by a well-balanced freshness and a marked flavor, typical of the calcareous-clayey soils of the area. The structure is important, with a long taste persistence consistent with the olfactory sensations: fruity returns and an elegant almond note at the end. The passage in wood (if present, even partial) helps to give softness and depth without overpowering the varietal identity of Turbiana.
