Lagrein Riserva by Waldgries is proof that a powerful body often hides a delicate personality. It comes from old vines over 20 years old in the Furggl area near Ora where the grapes are loaded with structure and vigor. It is vinified 1/3 in large wooden barrels and 2/3 in barriques for 12 months. A special feature: 10% of the grapes are left to ferment together with their stalks to acquire vigor and tannins. The single-variety wine appears in the glass in a purple red dress with a black heart and unfolds an inviting aromatic interplay of chocolate, plum and licorice. The palate is enveloped by its compact structure, is enchanted by the refreshing acidity and seduced by its crisp Lagrein aromas. The Lagrein Riserva pairs well with equally crispy dishes such as braised or grilled red meat, game, venison and spicy hard cheeses.

Waldgries
In the suggestive landscape of South Tyrol, among the sunny slopes of Santa Maddalena, the story of Waldgries comes to life, a winery that has its roots in 1930. It was then that the grandfather of Christian Plattner, the current custodian of the estate, purchased the property and began exporting his wines to Switzerland, marking the first chapter of a family tradition destined to last over time.
In the following years, it was Christian's father who carried on the family legacy, distinguishing himself for a pioneering vision: he began bottling wine at a time when this practice was anything but common in the area. A courageous gesture, which today proves to be the prelude to the innovative attitude that continues to inspire the winery.
Today, with passion and talent, Christian Plattner leads Waldgries, combining respect for its origins with a modern look at winemaking. Its wines come from vineyards located on soils of glacial origin, rich in porphyry, which give each bottle a strong identity, an elegant structure and an unmistakable body. Its interpretations of Lagrein and Schiava represent true masterpieces of mountain viticulture, capable of expressing the authentic character of the Alto Adige territory.
Waldgries is today a point of reference for those looking for high-altitude wines that tell, with every sip, the link between land, tradition and personal vision.
Vino45 is proud to offer its customers the labels signed Waldgries: a sensory journey through the history of a family, the strength of a territory and the refinement of a winemaker who has transformed passion into excellence.
