Marsala DOC Vergine Riserva 'VR2206' 2006 (750 ml.) Florio

Marsala DOC Vergine Riserva "VR2206" 2006 by Florio is a masterpiece of elegance and longevity, made exclusively from Grillo grapes grown in Marsala, on sandy soils by the sea, exposed to salty Mediterranean winds. Harvested in the second half of September at perfect overripeness, they give the wine intensity, verticality, and remarkable freshness. Aged since November 22, 2006 in a single cask, 26DAG, inside the historic Garibaldi Cellar, just 134 meters from the sea, it matured for over 17 years in oak. The bouquet is deep and spicy, with notes of roasted peanuts, cereals, licorice, and blond tobacco. On the palate it is dry, salty, broad, and persistent, with a vibrant tannic structure that enhances its evolution. Perfect with bottarga, foie gras, blue cheeses, or as a meditation wineLimited and numbered edition, crafted for true connoisseurs.

The history of the Florio winery has its roots in the distant 1833, when Vincenzo Florio, a man of vision and courage, decided to embark on an oenological journey that would indelibly mark the history of Sicilian wine. Located in the splendid setting of Sicily, a land of contrasts and wild beauty, Florio is more than just a winery: it is a symbol of tradition and innovation that has conquered palates all over the world thanks to its Marsala.

Marsala, a fortified wine that bears the name of the city where it was born, is an authentic oenological jewel that captures the essence of Sicily. The gentle hills and mild climate of the island offer the ideal conditions for the cultivation of Grillo and Catarratto grapes, native varieties that give Marsala its unique and unmistakable character. The Florio winery stands out for its production that follows traditional methods, respecting the times of nature and enhancing every nuance of the Sicilian terroir.

Each bottle of Marsala Florio is a symphony of aromas and flavors: from the warm and enveloping tones of dried fruit and vanilla, to the spicy and balsamic hints that enhance its complexity. It is a wine that can adapt to multiple occasions, from solitary meditation to the conviviality of a lunch with friends, and that manages to amaze with its versatility.

Let yourself be won over by the timeless charm of Florio wines and discover the authentic expression of Marsala on Vino45: a journey between past and present, between land and sea, in a sip of pure Sicily.

Address:

Via Vincenzo Florio, 1 - 91025 Marsala (TP), Italy

Color: bright amber, with shades of antique gold and topaz reflections, indicative of a very long controlled oxidation. The clarity is impeccable, the consistency remarkable, given by the concentration acquired during the prolonged stay in wood.

Bouquet: austere and complex, dominated by ethereal and oxidative tones. Hints of dried fruit emerge (toasted almond, walnut), candied citrus peel, leather, blond tobacco and marine iodine. The evolution brings to the surface nuances of varnish, sweet spices and oriental lacquer, with a salty undertone that recalls the maturation in a coastal environment.

Taste: dry, tense and vertical. The entry is austere, almost sharp, with a marked salinity and a dry structure, supported by a still lively acidity. The sip is consistent with the nose: returns of dried fruit, medicinal herbs and oxidative notes accompany a very long and stratified persistence. The finish is noble, clean, with a sapidity that invites meditation.
