Marsala Vergine Riserva DOC 'Single Barrel N.167' 2005 (750 ml gift box) Pellegrino

Marsala Vergine Riserva DOC “Single Barrel N.167” 2005 by Pellegrino is a rare and precious wine, produced in limited edition from a single barrel selected from the best ones kept in the historic cellars of Pellegrino in Marsala. Obtained from pure Grillo grapes, hand-picked, it is vinified according to the ancient techniques of the Marsala tradition. The wine ages in a single oak barrel for over 15 years, in environments subject to significant thermal excursions that favor its natural evolution, without the addition of cooked musts or mistelles. The result is a dry Marsala Vergine of great complexity, with intense notes of almond, tobacco, spices, and ancient woods, with a long and harmonious finish. Ideal for meditation or paired with aged cheeses. Each bottle, hand-numbered, tells the unique story of a single barrel.

Each bottle tells the richness of the Sicilian landscape: the scents of the Mediterranean, the strength of the sun, and the sea breeze that caresses the vineyards.

Discover on Vino45 the exclusive selection of Pellegrino wines: a journey through intense aromas, impeccable balances, and flavors that speak the language of the South. Color: Deep and brilliant amber, with golden and coppery reflections that testify to the long aging in a single barrel. The texture is dense and visually enveloping, with slow and persistent legs.

Bouquet: Intense, broad, and layered. Ethereal and saline notes emerge initially, followed by toasted hazelnut, walnut, bitter almond, and a background of licorice, ancient woods, and sweet tobacco. The evolution of the aroma reveals hints of coffee, resin, carob, and oriental spices, in a perfect balance between oxidative finesse and aromatic complexity.

Taste: Completely dry, consistent with the Vergine style. The attack is austere, with a savory and vibrant push, followed by an elegant and powerful progression that evokes sensations of almond and spices. The structure is full yet smooth, supported by lively acidity that gives verticality. The finish is very long, persistent, with returns of bitter herbs, sea salt, and fine wood.

Overall Rating: 96/100
