Marsala Superiore 'VecchioFlorio' by Florio is a versatile wine, well known in Italy and abroad, which comes from Grillo and Cataratto grapes and ages for 30 months in ancient oak barrels, well beyond the requirements of the DOC specification. From grapes harvested at advanced ripening under the hot Sicilian sun, it contains the hints of bitter almonds and raisins typical of Marsala, combined with notes of spices and vanilla. As an aperitif it goes well with medium-aged cheeses, toasted almonds and bottarga. It is also a classic dessert wine, excellent with sweets and dried fruit. Try it with…. Green olives. Serve it as an aperitif at 8°-10° C, with dessert or as a meditation at 14°-16° C.

The history of the Florio winery has its roots in the distant 1833, when Vincenzo Florio, a man of vision and courage, decided to embark on an oenological journey that would indelibly mark the history of Sicilian wine. Located in the splendid setting of Sicily, a land of contrasts and wild beauty, Florio is more than just a winery: it is a symbol of tradition and innovation that has conquered palates all over the world thanks to its Marsala.
Marsala, a fortified wine that bears the name of the city where it was born, is an authentic oenological jewel that captures the essence of Sicily. The gentle hills and mild climate of the island offer the ideal conditions for the cultivation of Grillo and Catarratto grapes, native varieties that give Marsala its unique and unmistakable character. The Florio winery stands out for its production that follows traditional methods, respecting the times of nature and enhancing every nuance of the Sicilian terroir.
Each bottle of Marsala Florio is a symphony of aromas and flavors: from the warm and enveloping tones of dried fruit and vanilla, to the spicy and balsamic hints that enhance its complexity. It is a wine that can adapt to multiple occasions, from solitary meditation to the conviviality of a lunch with friends, and that manages to amaze with its versatility.
Let yourself be won over by the timeless charm of Florio wines and discover the authentic expression of Marsala on Vino45: a journey between past and present, between land and sea, in a sip of pure Sicily.

THE COMPANY
Founded in 1833 by Vincenzo Florio, the Cantine Florio of Marsala overlook the sea of western Sicily. Wrapped in the energy of the winds, made sapid by the sea, the Cellars welcome, beautiful and silent, the oak woods where the Marsala Florios refine in an apparently immobile movement. Hundreds of barrels, vats and caratelli, each with its own story, breathe the sea through the tuff floor, in the high naves where perfumes and architecture mix. In this wonderful place, where the Sicilian idea of beauty is distilled, the oenologist Tommaso Maggio, through the wise use of space, time and oxygen, creates Marsala in its many organoleptic forms.
