Spumante VSQ Brut Riserva 'D'Antan' Vintage 2013 (750 ml.) La Scolca

Spumante Metodo Classico Riserva 'D’Antan' Millesimato 2013 by La Scolca is a masterful expression of Cortese, crafted exclusively from hand-selected grapes grown in the estate’s oldest and most prestigious vineyards in Gavi. Produced using the Traditional Method, it undergoes an exceptional ageing of over 120 months on the lees, followed by zero dosage disgorgement, ensuring absolute purity and authenticity. The bouquet is elegant and layered, with notes of toasted hazelnut, candied citrus peel, acacia honey, and flint. On the palate, it reveals a vibrant, bone-dry character, marked by ultra-fine perlage, deep minerality, and a long, persistent finish. An ideal pairing with oysters, refined seafood crudo, caviar, gourmet sushi, and also with aged cheeses or truffle-based dishes. A timeless vintage sparkling wine for true connoisseurs.

Founded at the dawn of the twentieth century, the winery has managed to keep its tradition intact, while always looking ahead, towards new challenges and horizons.

The Gavi territory, with its green hills and temperate climate, offers an ideal environment for the cultivation of the queen grape variety of the area: Cortese. This variety, with its innate elegance, finds its maximum splendor in the expert hands of the winemakers of La Scolca, transforming itself into wines of great longevity and extraordinary minerality. The flagship denomination is the DOCG Gavi, which embodies the essence of this land and the wisdom of those who work it.

Address:

Road to Rovereto 170/R - 15066 Gavi (AL), Italy

Color: bright golden yellow, with intense reflections.

Perlage: very fine and continuous, a sign of long maturation.

Bouquet: extraordinary complexity: notes of candied citrus, acacia honey, ripe yellow fruit and dried apricot open, followed by nuances of sweet spices, saffron, bread crust and flint, which evolve with oxygenation into accents of hazelnut, toasted almond and dry hay.

Taste: broad, creamy and deep, with a surprising freshness that balances the evolution. The mineral texture is sculpted and saline, with savory returns and a persistence that recalls honey, citrus and spices. A meditation wine, which combines tension and roundness, elegance and character.

Overall Rating: 93/100
