Marsala Vergine Riserva DOC “Single Barrel N.167” 2005 by Pellegrino is a rare and precious wine, crafted in a limited edition from a single selected cask stored in the historic Pellegrino cellars in Marsala. Made from 100% Grillo grapes, hand-harvested and vinified using traditional Marsala methods, this wine is aged for over 15 years in a single oak barrel, exposed to wide temperature fluctuations that naturally shape its character. No cooked must or mistelle is added—only time and wood define its essence. The result is a dry and highly complex Marsala Vergine, with intense notes of almond, tobacco, spices, and aged wood, and a long, harmonious finish. Perfect as a meditation wine or paired with mature cheeses. Each bottle, hand-numbered, tells the unrepeatable story of a single barrel.

Color: Deep and brilliant amber, with golden and coppery reflections that testify to the long refinement in a single barrel. The consistency is dense and visually enveloping, with slow and persistent arches.
Bouquet: Intense, broad and layered. Ethereal and saline notes emerge at the beginning, followed by toasted hazelnut, walnut, bitter almond and an undertone of licorice, ancient woods and sweet tobacco. The evolution of the perfume reveals hints of coffee, resin, carob and oriental spices, in a perfect balance between oxidative finesse and aromatic complexity.
Taste: Completely dry, consistent with the Vergine style. The attack is austere, with a savory and vibrant push, followed by an elegant and powerful progression, which recalls sensations of almond and spices. The structure is full but smooth, supported by a lively acidity that gives verticality. The finish is very long, persistent, with hints of bitter herbs, sea salt and fine wood.
Overall Rating: 96/100
